Purple?

Are we not just going to add to the skin collection as and when we change the layout of the site? I know the idea is that people can have a choice, but I just thought the choice part came in when people liked the old skin and wanted to stay with it (like some of the blue lovers) and not have to change not brand new skins that have never been part of the site, or "canon" as it were. :P

JF - I don't see any harm in making one more skin. After all, it's my time I'm wasting, not anybody else's. And if nobody wants a purple skin, they don't have to select it as their choice, do they?

I was going to base it off of the last purple layout Arweb had on the site (and forum when it was still on proboards), to bring a little old-AU nostalgia in (maybe even using the same banner/header Arweb made). I've already talked to Arweb about it and she said she'd send me all the images, buttons and whatnot from her past forum skins to see what's usable. I haven't even begun working on it yet. Don't know when I will, but it's always been at the back of my mind to make more skins in the near future, because if you look at the poll, while green is the winner by a majority, red and purple come in second.

Regardless whether I actually make another skin or not, green should still be the default.

I can't remember what the forum looked like with some of the older layouts, as I don't think I was a member then, but would you be trying to maybe use Arwen's headers for any new skins? Other than the purple one I mean? It would save you creating new ones from scratch, and it would, like you say, be nostalgic.

*pops in* I know I've been completely inactive for like, 2 months, but I've still been checking in to see what progress is being made! AND THE NEW SKIN IS AMAZING. It looks a teeny bit yellow on my screen, but it's an EXCELLENT job. :-D

Yeah I've been thinking about using Arwen's headers for some skins. Though, looking back, ever since we've been on this "new" forum, there has been two blue skins, two green skins and one brown skin. So I probably won't be making another green or blue skin. But perhaps the brown one later on.

Oh, right, I was supposed to send you those files... :teehee: I'll get on that and make sure things are set up for you creating a new skin :) Did you want to just do a purple one, or a brown one as well?

And damn. I still need to make myself a new sig/avvie set. This one clashes so horribly :duh:

A purple skin? :boing: That would be epic! Although put me in a dilemma as I wouldn't be able to choose between green or purple. :lol:


Randomness... I was looking through the previous layouts page and I found A-U when it was version 3.2.. Anybody have any idea when 3.2 was in use? I want to try to remember when I first found this site but I can't. :( (Obviously, I didn't join the forum until a lot later..)

I have NO idea :-P The Internet Archive Wayback Machine ( http://web.archive.org/index.jsp ) did, though! Apparently layout 3.2 debuted sometime mid-September, 2004. You're a super-oldie! :-D

I love the Wayback Machine! It is such an awesome tool...to bring back waves of nostalgia. :D

I first visited A-U somewhere between versions 3.0 and 3.1 because I definitely remember version 3.1, but cannot quite recall 3.0 (yet the look seems to strike a chord deep within my memories). Oh jeez, already the Alzheimer's is kicking in.

Arwen, if you don't have time, you could ask someone to make a new set for you! ^^ The clashing doesn't really bother me though.
