Wow, this will change as soon as I answer LOL but right now the fave part that comes to mind is when Bilbo runs after the dwarves to join them. It always feels like the moment he finally realizes who he is at heart, and that there are more adventures for him than growing old in The Shire. It's heart-breaking because you know where it eventually will lead, but it's also when both Bilbo and the reader realize his path is already set.

My favourite part is definitely the end ( from when they got to the Lonely Mountain), but the first chapter is very funny too :lol: I allways found the middle a bit boring... but that's only my opinion.

I think my favourite part is where Bilbo is fighting the spiders and says, 'Go on! Go on! I will do the stinging!" and where he names his sword. :)

Hmmm. Very hard choice, but I think I'd have to choose the "Riddles in the Dark" chapter. It's great both because of the clever interaction between Gollum and Bilbo, and since it is so central later on. It just carries a lot of meaning, I suppose, and since I read LotR before I read The Hobbit, it was really cool to see how it all began. :)

My absolute favorite part in the Hobbit is the giant spider scene in Mirkwood! I read the book for that part practicly haha. It cracks me up every time.

I love it the most because first of all i HATE spiders, and (though i would hate to encounter a giant one) i would love to call it names. Its just hilarious how Bilbo invisbly insults them and how much they freak out. Revenge on spiders!

Totally agree! Bard the Bowman is amazing, and I think this is by far the most exciting part of the book :)

I'm rereading the Hobbit so it would have to be the following:

Bilbo trying to get rid of Gandalf by saying Good morning

The dwarves invading Bilbo's hole and he is freaking out

The trolls fighting over how to cook them

The elves teasing the dwarves

I love "Riddles in the Dark" and the line in the chapter with the trolls when they start fighting and in the narrative it says that they were "calling each other all sorts of perfectly true and applicable names in very loud voices." :)

mine is either:
the very first description of gollum and riddle in the dark, it has a great atmophere!
OR
when bilbo thinks smaug is asleep and smaug had half an eye open, its a great moment

I like most Bilbo's chat with Smaug and meeting with Beorn. Maybe Beorn's time more than Smaug's ^^
