I thought he was a little odd, and kinda struck me as like the hippie wizard The way I had him pictured in my mind from the books wasn't quite like he was in the Hobbit movie, he was stranger in the movie than what I pictured him to be! |

That's what I thought although he is intelligent he may want to hide it |

My favorite part is when The man (i have momentarily forgot his name) shoots Smaug with the black arrow in his only vulnerable part. |

I think they made Radagast a little too crazy... He's a maiar for goodness sakes! They also gave him too much screen time. @mani that really has nothing to do with the subject but his name is Bard |

Yeah, I thought he was a little too strange as well... same reason as Elfqueen4... he is a maiar after all! And also thought he had a little too much screen time. I know the online game LOTRO is not the ruller but they did him in there and I loved the way he was. He was still all about the animals and all that but he wasn't so weird and such. I did love his rabbit sleigh in the movie, though. |

I also think he is stranger in the movies than he is in the books. But I don't mind. The rabbits are funny. |

I think we all agree the rabbit sleigh was pretty awesome but I still think they could have made him a little more serious or at least a little smarter. |

Yeah, the rabbits are pretty much his signature from the movies. lol I think if they would have just altered a few things they could have kept a little of the crazy but given him a semblance of ability as well. On a harsh note they almost made him seem as though he was a bumbling individual with mental problems. Though I realize he is not. I didn't really mind him that much in the movie, I just thought it was a little too much. |

I agree. Could have been less crazy. |

*nods* Has anyone else by chance played the Lord of the Rings Online game to know what Radagast is like in the game? |

In the movies he`s interesting, but I think Tolkien wrote that he was not fulllfing the task he was sent for. I don`t hate him, but he is a bit disappointing. |

Hm... I will have to keep an eye out now when I read through the hobbit for what it says about Radagast. I didn't realize he wasn't fulfilling his task the way he was supposed to. |

You can find that in Tolkiens "Unfinished tales" and more about Istari. |

Ah, have not read those yet. I will have to keep that in my line up after we get through the hobbit, trillogy and then silmarilion. We are trying to read those in order as a family... it's likely to be slow going. |
