That was ridiculous!! Tom was supposed to be the Oldest, and use that authority to command the willows to release the hobbit. But a "tree" commanding another, less powerful "tree"? It just doesn't work. And what were they trying to do, making all of the ents at the entoomt look stupid? The book implied exactly the opposite!
I do have rather strong opinions on things...
