It is painful to watch but since it is a deviation from the book I can reconcile my mind! I understand all of you well expressed grief though!!!!

You sort of have to assume that no elves survive Helm's Deep (except Legolas, obviously), because they don't show any coming out on the final assult. But surely they would mention that they all died if they did? Shouldn't they at least have acknowledged that none of the elves who "came to honour that allegiance" (note the grin on Legolas's face) were now all dead?????? Am I alone on this one?

They were all dead ... Pete Jackson mentioned it somewhere. And there were only 200 Elves that joined them in battle. Surely they would have all been killed, whether or not PJ said it.

i cried the first time i saw that scene, but now,i think about how much of a sacrifice it was to go there, for any of them,it ment fosaking the chance of immortal life in the Valinor,it must have been a hard choice to make

It wasn't a hard choice IMO. They'd go directly to Mandos (in Valinor) after "dieing" and in time be reborn in a new body. Doesn't seem like a sacrifice to me

^yeah ... no character dying is "exciting" let alone haldir's death ... ^^^you should be ashamed of yourself for saying that! :annoyed:

Yes. the sad fact is, when you see him die, and all the dramatic elvish music is playing, and he sees all the elves, Haldir was killed by just one simple blow from a stupid, ignorant, *keeps on throwing all these names describing the uruk-hai that killed haldir (not bad words)* .... but the elves can live forever without dying, but just then, he died........*sniff* because....*sniff* :'( :'( :'( *bursts out crying*
do u get my point? *sniff*
