Lol I'm sure alot of legolas fans would agree on that one. I agree with that entirely..if only men in this world could be like him...ahh

I wish he had more Elvish lines too. I mean he is so quiet all the time, and that suit him, but sometimes, he doesn't seem to be an Elf. Like Elrond, or Arwen. In TTT he looks like a little bit human to me.

i am learning how to speak elvish and i also wish that he had more lines, elvish and english. But i also agree that he is very stunning with his silence.

i wish he had more lines, elvish or not.but i think he always had a lot of elvishness about him.if there was any humanness it probably came from him having 2 deal with the concept of death and war.

I'm going to be hung for this...

I don't like Legolas too much. I thought he was bland, both book and movie wise. Tolkien and Jackson both use him to explain the situation. I liked Gimli for his off the wall "Dwarf-humor" and Aragorn is in all ways, Humanity perfected.
Legolas's stunts are neat, and his archery is impossible to deny, but as a character he isn't all shiny (unless you are a fangirl). He is the most overexaggerated character in the movies, as Tolkien actually thought Legolas achived the least out of the entire Fellowship. (if you look at the other Eight, you'll see they all did things more unworldly to their races, other than Gandalf, who actually set the stage, Legolas was more the "Elvish Representation").
The movie defines an Elf as an otherworldy being almost, and to Men (us) that is how they should seem. And his age is nowhere stated by Tolkien, Orlando Bloom picked a number! :P
He's also directionally challenged in the Two Towers. :P

"The Uruks turn Northeast! They are taking the Hobbits to Isengard!"
If you've looked at a map of Middle Earth, the Uruks should have turned Northwest, or else they'd be heading toward Aragorn and Co.

Legolas is cool, and Gimli and Aragorn would have been lost without him of course, but I prefer the other two over him.
*hides from rabid fangirls* :bye2:

The shield scene.. my friends laugh at me but everytime that scene comes on I pause it, zoom in a little, and go in slow motion. Then I watch again regularly... its quite humorous but I find the scene so enchanting!

Post subject:  Youthful Elfdom

In an article by Michael Martinez, he says this about Legolas and I thought it was good:

"The character of Legolas is not so much compelling as confounding. I think many people wonder about him because he seems such a paradox, both old and young, both wise and yet inexplicably ignorant of the wide world around him. Legolas is a subtle stroke of Elvish youth at the end of the Elder Days. It may be there were few young Elves around at the time, and his may have been the last great adventure for a young Elf in Middle-earth. When Celeborn finally sailed over Sea, Tolkien notes, the last living memory of the Elder Days went with him. But when Legolas built his ship and departed, it may be that the last sparkle of youthful Elfdom vanished from Middle-earth, too."

If he spoke more elvish that would be nice I agree. I just don't think his stunts are that great. I think maybe some of you might be giving him more credit then he deserves.

uhm yep, that's so true, Legolas' play in the movie it's amazing, it's like woa, is he an elf or wonder-elf? but I love this kinda actions, you know, it keeps on giving them this point of magic that surrounds 'em and makes me go crazy hahahahaha. Amazing, it's just amazing :)

He doesn't skateboard down the stairs! He snowboards down the stairs...big difference. LOL

I really like all the Legolas stuff and my favorite line from him in that movie is, "You look terrible." Directed at Aragorn when he arrives at Helm's Deep. Although I agree...I think he should have spoken more Elvish!

Finally you all agree with me! Legolas was just sorta... there. He didn't really say much. I love him personally. He is my favorite LotR character assss you can see. Also, all of his stunts in the movie were awesome! I LOVED IT WHE HE "SKATBOARDED" DOWN THOSE STAIRS! And his archery is also amazing. ^^ Oh and he's hot too. ^^
