I love the scene in TTT when Haldir brings the elves with him. The music in the background makes me all excited. But I was wondering, How many elves came?
I know ALOT came but I want to want to know how many.

another question is, You know when the one guy accidentally lets go of his bow and fires, it went through an orcs throat. Then Aragorn waits longer once they charge to fire the arrows. why? Elves bows are way stronger that a humans bow. and a human bow went far enough.
please answer my 2 questions thanks!!

P.S. I dont know if this should be in TTT book board or TTT movie board

.......Good question  I have not read the books in a while so, I have forgotten answers to those kinds of questions, and I don't feel like counting elves when I watch the movies. I know that I will count someone twice.

For the bow question though, I might have an answer....the humans were higher so it had more time to travel, so perhaps the reason it was able to travel as far as it did was because of the elevation at which the humans were. *shrugs* But, I could be wrong. That's just my guess.

((I need to read LotR again  ))

Hehe... I think it simply worked well in the movie.. to have the Rohirrim shooting the first arrow in answer to the orc army being so cheeky and provokingly confident of success.
Mmmm isn't Aragorn commanding both the Elves and the Rohirrim? I don't know about war tactics, but they seemed to use the 'fire at the same time in order to hit as many enemies as possible in one shot'- strategy!!

I don't know how many elves Haldir brought from Lothlorien...

PJ needed to get rid of the Elves. They weren't in the book! If the Elves survived in the fil where would they go. They would just casue complications. It also makes the whole thing of Haldir coming more heroic and the last battle for the Elves in Middle Earth

I read somewhere that you should be able to spot Arwen/Liv Tyler among the Elves. PJ actually wanted to let her fight in TTT and he wasn't able to delete one particular scene after they changed Arwen's role. You should only see her for a few seconds, but to be honest I never discovered her although I watched TTT so often.
Did anyone recognize her or know if this is true?

I have no idea how many elves there were. As for the waiting to fire thing I'm pretty sure that was for dramatic effect.

I can imagine that PJ wanted to include more girls in LotR - over half of the girls in my class (in an all girls school) think that the movie is sexist. Apparently they forgot Eowyn XD

I agree with that! Since they never showed up anymore in the books, PJ could use them and get rid of them how he wanted to... it wouldn't affect the ending or any of the given history of Middle-earth. I read somewhere ... where it said how many Elves were actually at Helm's Deep. I think it was during one of Craig Parker's interviews. I'll check again, but yeah.

You guys are all right. I am 34 pages till the end of fotr book. I havent read TTT yet. But my friend did, and he saaid there is alot of differences. The giant spider, she is in TTT but to make rotk longer it was in there. But they hardley ever showed humans dieing, just elves being pelted by crossbows, and or by a sword.

It is so kool when they fire the arrows and you see a wave of arrows pelt the urukai. I hate how Haldier dies. :(

Tolkien had a book of notes for making the trilogy, and it mentioned haldir taking thousand's of elves to helms deep to fight in war with men, so i guess they desided to add that.
