I think the way Smeagol talks of Shelob in the TTT really builds up an emotional tension. Looking at what Frodo and Sam have had to endure already and then we hear talk of 'yess....preciousss....she's always hungry..' and it really sets us up for the Return of the King. It's really exciting! I also love the fact that after every movie ot shows us the path that lays ahead for Frodo and Sam...it really gets the mood going.

frightening ... i was sitting there watching it and blinking like .. "what's going on? 'she'...?" i sort of figured that "she" was shelob but the way the movie was going -- full of catches and suspense -- i really was confused ... that part was superb

i know lol! Wasn't it Magnificent, I also love the fact that when Frodo calls him Smeagol, he gets 'What did you call me?' as a reaction. I think that was an awesome thing to do too!

I liked the end of the movie! When I first saw it I was a little upset that I didn't she Shelob, that was one of the parts that I really wanted to see.
Your right Frodos-Guide, that scene really does build up emotional tension. I did the samething as Haldir when I first saw the movie. I was so confused for a moment.

I was sooo depserate to see ROTK after that scene though! I was like arrrrrg who is 'she' lol i was in absolute torture lol i just wanted to see ROTK asap lol.
That's justified by the fact i went all teh way to a cinema far away from my home at 7:30 at night when my local cinema had sold out and ended up coming out at like 11:30, catching teh last train home and getting a lift home from the Police because i was soo late out with my friend on our own. We were only 14!

Lol, that part was pretty cool - I love how they make the mood fit perfectly with "Gollum's Song" right afterwards.

No i thought it was fantasti chow they melded that song in too. The song fits so perfectly with Gollum though, the lyrics even more so! It's Fascinating.

Heehee. Yeah, the members of my family who read the books were cracking up, but the ones that didn't were totally in a state of curiosity. "What? Huh? Who is he talking about!?"

Lol how exciting was it though.
Another thing i love about the ending is the conversation Sam has with Frodo about them going down into tales a little hobbits saying 'dad i want to hear about Frodo and the ring...that's one of my favourite stories...Frodo was really courageous' and how the dad would reply 'Yes m'lad' lol I love when Frodo says 'You've missed out one of the chief charcaters, Samwise the Brave...I want to hear more about Sam' and in reply to sam saying 'Now Mr. Frodo you shouldn't make fun...I was being serious' by saying 'So was I...Frodo wouldn't have gotten far without Sam' Is really moving! I love that part!

I was in a similar state as I hadn't read the TTT yet, and no idea who "she" was. It was quite a surprise when I found out in the book. I could have waited for the movie to find out.

i agree. when i saw ttt i hadn't read the books and i was like who's she. and my sister told me that she was this really big spider....i have to admit i wasn't really looking forward to that scene cuz im terifiyed of spiders.....and pj did a really great job on her.
but yeah i think it was a great set up. i also never really realized that they always showed the path that lays before them but i think that was a really great idea. ( whos ever it was). i love that.
