He looks partially amazed, well as far as amazed Legolas gets during the movie :p So maybe he is in awe? or Respect? Or maybe it's just telling us of what the Fellowship is up to at the moment, which is watching the scene before them.... :p

I don't think it's pointless or distracting! If you ever noticed, Peter Jackson has different camera views at different directions. It all comes down to the feel of the movie. I though PJ did an awesome job with the movie.

I agree with Larael, it was probably just to show a reaction, and Legolas was probably the most obvious/popular/hot choice. If it had been a shot of, say, Gimli, I wouldn't see you complaining as much, now would I?

Personally, I would much rather have seen random piccies of Aragorn, coz . . . welll . . . Legolas is so not hot. *ducks for cover* Aragorn on the other hand. . . .

I always just supposed it was to show that the rest of the fellowship were still there, and that they hadn't floated off some where or whatever. I suppose a wider shot of all of them would have been better for that purpose though. Maybe it was just to show that Captain Obvious was caught off guard.

Yeah, PJ knew his fans would say Legolas is ''hot'' so i guess he put in Legolas alot to increase the happines when people look at the film. Maybe he never understood the true story of lord of the rings, but he only wanted money. (Just a guess, sorry if i was wrong, Peter!) :blink:

^errr ... obviously he understood the true meaning of LotR, or else he wouldnt have made the movie

its just that money is a different matter than the story ... random shots of Legolas doesnt effect the story, so why not put them in?

^^ I agree with you for 100% Aragorn is so much *tries to avoid the word hot* .. what the heck.. he's much hotter than Legolas! :-D :bounce:
