I think its cool how, almost unitentionally they incorperated Tolkiens original idea to have the 'Lord of the Rings' be like a history of Britain, by having a song in Old english.

how to prenounce

Bealocwealm[bale-oc-welm] hafað[havod] fréone[freon-ay] frecan forth onsended giedd[gee-ead] sculon[school-on] singan[sing-on] gléomenn[glio-men] sorgiende[sore-gee-and-ay] on Meduselde[meduseld-ay] þæt[bait] he ma no wære[wear-ay] his dryhtne[dry-henty] dyrest[die-rest] and mæga[may-o(silent G)] deorost[day-o-rost] Bealo...[bay-lo]

thats a rough version, as she sings it in the movie. Its not completely accurate.

I watched the EE yesterday and I found that song great. Really unexpected and not as beautiful as the sonsg sung by elves, but I think this one fits better to her and to Rohan.

thanks for the text and the translation, now I can sing it, too :D

I actually didn't like the song at first.. let me say.. the first 5 times or so.. I was not sure about her voice.. and it came too suprising for me.. But then.. after you know the meaning, and now miranda ott a bit better (the voice) I really started to like this song.. It is so cool that they brought this song in!! :-D

Just the same as other people, I didn't like it at the beginning because they just sort of dropped it on you and if you're like me and have memorized how the original movie goes and then watch the EE, it's like, "Woah" But after she got further into it, I like it even though I have only watched it once and there was a lot of noise while I was watching it... Does anyone know what it means?

I have no idea. Maybe it says something about it on the behind the scenes discs.

I really love that song.
:) I've never listened to it before, because unfortunately I've never seen the EE's, but I loved it at once when I clicked on the link and listened to it.

Lady Imidri: Here is the lyrics as well as the English translation quoted from Meldawen's post on previous page:

Meldawen wrote:
Balocwealm hafath freone frecan forth onsended
giedd sculon singan glaomen sorgiende on Meduselde...

(english)
An evil death has set forth the noble warrior
A song shall sing sorrowing minstrels in Meduseld
