Ya I guess they had to kill off the elves, because they weren't supposed to be there in the first place! Now that is unfair!

:bye2:

I don't really remember - but the elves were called back to the Keep, but I don't know if they all made it, or any at all. It's sad, isn't it? As for no elves leaving the Keep, maybe the movie just didn't add in that part, like they neglected so many other parts. :bye2:

Sorry, but... I have never like Haldir, EVER. He was annoying in the books, and in the movies just plain... well, ugly. Although I can hardly hold that against a guy. It also sort of bothered me that Aragorn had to go and wipe his bloody hands in the poor elf's hair... :confused2:

The music was very sad when he died, though...

I had also wondered if PJ had just left out the Elves afterwards... like saying to Legolas (if they HAD all been killed) 'We will never forget their sacrifice etc." Or saying thankyou to a leader of the Elves before they went home... *ponders*

I agree feawen.

Anyway, I think I did read in one of my LOTR movie books (I think it is the weapons and armor one) that all the elves died. I was so angry. I loved how they came to the aid of men- I thought that was so valiant and then I have to watch all of them die :disgust:

Anyway, I still remember the first time I saw that seen. I was cheering (silently of course since it was in theaters) when the elves came...and then I remember thinking when they kept zooming in on Haldir don't kill him off- he doesn't die. I hated how he saw all of his dead commrads before he fell- it was so sad. I wanted to scream in the movie. I still fastforward that scene when I watch the movie- I hate it. Granted I don't like Haldir as much as Legolas but still- he wasn't suppose to die!

I am so happy that Tolkien did not kill Legolas off in the book- I'd probably end up going crazy if I had to watch that in the movie.

Well, I liked the way how Haldir's death fitted to all the drama of the battle. And after all someone has to die, right?? I love the character Haldir but I liked how his death just makes you cry during the huge battle.

I wish Peter Jackson hadn't killed off Haldir (And all the other elves for that matter!)! That was just pointless. I mean, why couldn't all the elves have gone home? Would that make a difference in the movie? What does Peter Jackson have against elves?!

:grr: :explode: :annoyed: :disgust: :annoyed2:

Anyway,if Legolas died in the movei,it would give me a trauma or somethig, but thanks to the Valar and Tolkien, he is in the Undying Lands, safe and sound. Whew!! :)

Okay, you guys are going to just glare and throw tomatoes at me for this but:

Haldir's death was the least moving death of all of the deaths in Lord of the Rings. It might be due to the fact that he wasn't supposed to be dead or something but I mean his death just didn't seem RIGHT. Yes, I was sad that he died but it didn't really pull any heart threads with me.

well it's nice to find out i'm not the only almost-not-emotional human here. well i didn't even cry because i know haldir actually DOESN'T die cuz Tolkien said so and he's one of those rare persons i listen/read to ;) so this "imaginary" death doesn't break my heart. we all know he actaully survives :) :bounce: :bounce:
