Yea...about Haldir dying..that was really sad. But if they killed off someone esle that would probally ruin the story becuase thats not really how tolkien wrote it then...again if they didnt have haldir fighting we wouldnt see him that much! So im thankful that we at least see him a lil more then hes mentioned...

well ... they could have brought him to helm's deep, NOT let him die, then he can go back to Lórien to go to the undying lands with the elves ... that would make sense too ...

I agree, one of the saddest parts of the movie. It was so moving. That face he made, it was just utter shock.

It was extremely sad to see him die, yeah of course, because, even though he's not particularly important throughout the film, he's an elf, I can't stand elves dying (nor any of Middle Earth's people but specially elves) It's like, you know they are immortal and you feel like it's impossible for them to die, but in the end...if they are hurt, they die, and that's the sad part of their story

Yes ... it was extremely heartbreaking. The look on his face ... like he didn't really understand the concept of dying ... like he never really imagined it would ever happen to him...

yep, that's so true, it's like, he cannot understand or he cannot even recognize where is the good among all these corpses. I dunno, but it seems as if there he is kinda showing us how cruel a battle might be, where there are no winners but losers

^That's the spirit!! I'm still sad that Haldir died.
Anyway
I'm making his armour for Halloween. I've only made the cloak though, cos I need a LOT more material and I haven't found someone who can give me a ride to go buy more.
I'll post a pic when it's all done

It is painful to watch but since it is a deviation from the book I can reconcile my mind! I understand all of you well expressed grief though!!!!

You sort of have to assume that no elves survive Helm's Deep (except Legolas, obviously), because they don't show any coming out on the final assult. But surely they would mention that they all died if they did? Shouldn't they at least have acknowledged that none of the elves who "came to honour that allegiance" (note the grin on Legolas's face) were now all dead?????? Am I alone on this one?

They were all dead ... Pete Jackson mentioned it somewhere. And there were only 200 Elves that joined them in battle. Surely they would have all been killed, whether or not PJ said it.
