It was sad Hladir died, though you could hear his soul moving...

In my opinion they should've put the Grey Company in the film with Halbarad being the one that dies (he dies in ROTK the book anyway).
But I don't see any problem that the elves come and help, but letting someone that doesn't die in the books die isn't to nice.
They could've introduced Halbarad, Elladan, Elrohir & Co during the Wargrider episode, that way not much needs changing except wargrider scene and some dialog between Theoden and Halbarad (and maybe Legolas).
It have been my thoughts ever since I read ROTK.
Halbarad or the sons of Elrond could have Andúril with him/them or something.

Yes, it was a really sad part of the movie. I hate it when Elves die. I cried too.

But that still doesn't make it right!!
Killing an elf is a crime! BINGO!
Or just a way to get some symphaties for those filthy pointy eared freaks

PJ killed Haldir to prove that Elves COULD die, and to remind everyone of the true theme of the story, Death. Elves would leave ME or eventually lose something (life, loved one) that would drive them from it. And it was a romantic concept to have all the Elves die for the Men.

omg when haldir died ... it was so heartbreaking!!! i cried for so long!! it was a terrible thing to watch especially because jackson decided to make haldir die on his knees, which was a horrible way to die. and gruesome too, the orc-sword on his delicate head...

well the entire Eldar Host dying pretty much proves enough that Elves could die.... i dont think it was necessary to kill Haldir ... and jackson gave him the stupidest outfit to wear too ... its pretty obvious to the Uruks who the Elf captain is, if hes wearing all these pretty and shiny things... so why wouldnt they aim to kill Haldir more than anyone else, and why wouldnt they want to make him suffer ... so yes ... it was pretty romantic, but Haldir's death wasnt necessary. the other Elves weren't known characters, so it's not quite as sad to watch them die, as opposed to watching Haldir die... well ... that could be why he did that ... to make it more deep .... but i still am against haldir's death

I am against Haldir dying too,..but I do have to agree with Shigure. That's what makes is so sad, (to my opinion) that they died for mankind.

i agree. it seems that something or someone so pure should not die. when ever i watch LOTR i always wince whenever an elf dies. like a kid wincing when captain scarlet was in a bad spot!

I'm in love with Haldir! I can't believe that he died! I started swearing and crying all at once. I was devastated. I felt as though it were a personal blow. Elves are the purest of all beings. They should not have had to die.

I know. I mourned him for a year and a half. And it still dwells upon my heart and mind. I curse the fowl creature that dared lay a hand on him. First, I would poke it's eyes out, and then I would mince it up into little pieces and -- *notices horrified look of onlookers* Never mind. But I would. Of all the elves, why Haldir? WHY!!! *bursts into tears, onlookers backing away slowly*.
