I, being a hopeless romantic, enjoy any and all scenes with Aragorn and Arwen in them. Though actually I did kind of think the dream scene in TTT was a tad cheesy (but still very sweet). If Arwen had shown up at Helm's Deep I think I would've personally led a revolt against PJ...because we already have one warrior princess, no offense to Arwen. We don't need another one.
On the other hand, if I had heard about those Helm's Deep scenes with Arwen in them before TTT came out one thing I would NOT do was bash Liv Tyler about it. She said in one interview that she went online and read some stuff that people said about it that actually made her cry! I don't think people should blame the actor for what the director asks them to do.

^awww, poor Liv!!! You're so right, Anie! People shouldn't blame the actors! I think I've read an interveiw with Keira (Knightly) and she went through sorta the same thing... not quite the same and not quite as bad but I'm sure it still hurts!
I was personally very content with how they handled Arwen in The Two Towers. I couldn't see her fighting at Helm's Deep… that would just be... out of character for her. no, she was perfect in that scene with Aragorn. I liked her as pretty much just the girly girl in the movies. Not to mention a little romance never hurts a movie... in fact, IMO, almost every good movie needs at least a little bit of the stuff.

I know! I wanted to give Liv a hug when I heard that, even though it was obviously a long time afterwards.
Aww, of course! What's more, even though I see it coming a mile away (in books too), I enjoy it immensely.

it seems most of us are in agreement
Arwen is the strong, clever, romantic involvement of Aragorn´s life.
The person he uses to resound his judgements on...
The one that balances his life.
His heart.
His conscience.
Yin to his Yang
If Arwen, were to have been an active warrior, at Helms Deep...then I think the romance would have been gone, or at least been less relevant..
Yay, for PJ decision making!

I love Arwen, full stop. She can't do wrong for me and I loved every minute she was in the films. On top of that I liked her being who she was and that includes her not fighting at Helms Deep etc. So I vote the first one.

*nods in agreement*
I think taking Arwen to Helm's Deep would have made her too comparable to Eowyn. It's important to keep the differences between Arwen and Eowyn known so that we can continue to keep in mind their individual goals. We can't have Arwen becoming warrior-y, because it detracts from the reasons for which Aragorn loved her in the first place.
