Oh yeah, the couple that started my name for the internet. I love this couple, and I love the scene. Actually I probably wouldn't be right here on the computer without these 2. I guess I got my next theme for my next siggy.

Well, I'm glad you're on the Internet, eowynfaramir4eva - or else you wouldn't have given me my glitter name!
At first, I thought that the scene with them would be in the RotK (non-EE), and I nearly turned the television upside-down trying to look for the scene - and then I found out that the scene is only in the EE, which of course disappointed me bitterly -
I MUST get the EEs!!!
Ahem. Anyway, yeah. They're my favorite couple too.

Now that I think about it, Aragorn and Arwens love story is so...........hmmmmmmm........fairytale like. It's just so.......perfect in a sense.

Aragorn/Arwen's love is so nice! Unfortunately, in the films, Eowyn falls for Faramir too quickly. She was made to look like a tart.

I would also have liked the scene to be longer and in more depth, particularly as it does not really explore why Eowyn changes her mind and accepts Faramir. In fact, by the time the scene ends, it is not even clear that she has!
I think that the reason why the scene is missing is that this all takes place while the climax of the story is happening - Aragorn is fighting at the Black Gate while Frodo is struggling over the final few miles to Mount Doom. I strongly suspect that many movie goers who had not read the books would wonder why on earth the action with the main characters is halted so that we can watch two of the supporting characters getting together. In fact, one review of the EE DVD that I read actually criticised the inclusion of the Faramir/Eowyn scene for this very reason, accusing PJ of just indulging himself! (Sacrilege I know, but there you go).
I very much hope that we will, eventually, be allowed to see the missing scenes - even as deleted scenes rather than restored to the film again. It seems such a shame that what comes across as such a romantic episode in the book has been lost to those who will never read it.

But at least it was longer than in the cinema release (how much...ohh..2 seconds?) I suppose. Anyway, point being... what does everyone else think? Cos I can hardly watch ROTK now without screaming frantically at the tv screen... (I am a very sad person and I probably need a social life )
Humm... I concur. Faramir/Eowyn scene was not nearly as long as it should've been. The original film of it was 2 sec. yup, how lame. But meh, can't complain, atleast they showed stuff there, but it should've been longer.

Well... maybe they could done something more but if you want more read the book and use your imagination. I think Aragorn and Arwen's story is more important than Eowyn and Faramir's and that's why they needed more time in the film. And after all Miranda has enough movie time and most of Liv's time in the film is her with Aragorn...

I think you have made a very important point Lady Undomiel. It surprised me when I read the book at the almost complete lack of any mention of the relationship between Arwen and Aragorn in the main story, instead being relegated to the appendices, while several pages were devoted to the whirlwind romance of two of the supporting characters.
When you bear in mind that Aragorn is not only fighting for his destiny, but also for Arwen's hand, while Arwen is prepared to give up her immortaility for her love, it is not surprising that PJ put so much more of their story into the movie. I agree with you that he was right to do it.
Having said that though, I would have liked to have seen a bit more of the Faramir/Eowyn scenes as well. After all, PJ invested so much time building up the potential Aragorn/Eowyn plotline, that I don't thing that the character, or the audience, gets adequate payback. As far as the audience is concerned Faramir could be a convenient shoulder to cry on before Eowyn goes back to Rohan, so her storyline sort of grinds to a halt rather than finds completion.
Yes, the easy answer is - just read the books, but I don't think that solves the rather awkward end to the poltline.

That's a very good point, Lady_Undomiel. I totally agree with you. As for Elberethsq, does that mean you're totally against kissing? I wonder how we were all made then. I think it's a totally unnecessary comment and the underhanded comment against A/A doesn't help people to appreciate F/E more.

Oooooh - I don't know - I wouldn't have minded a bit of a snog - after they'd held hands for a bit of course!
Btw Smeagolisfree99 - I know that this is totally off topic, but I just love your Boromir banner with the catapult - it had me in stitches!

Well I think that In the extended edition , pj should have put a little bit more scenes or faramir and eowyn. I personally would've liked to see a scene where they get married =P but yeh, they are and execptionally cute couple.

They did not have NEARLY enough screen time. There's almost a whole chapter about Faramir and Eowyn in the books, and a couple of paragraphs about Aragorn and Arwen. Yet in the movies it's the other way around. That's not fair
