I personally couldn't really picture Legolas with a mate... he is more like the kick butt elf type, not the lets sit here and wait for my lover...

I don;t think he is the "Lets go kick butt" elf. I see him as more of a "I'm gonna kill you if you think you can ruin all the good stuff" kind of elf. He defends what needs to be defended, but doesn't go out looking for fights. But I agree with you in the fact that I don't think he would really wait around for some elf lady.

I guess we do, if he had a girlfriend ..
No seriously, I don't think he should have got a girlfriend, he hasn't got one in the books, and I like to stick to the books..

Honestly, I kind of wish Tolkien had given Leggy a girl - it would've made dispelling all the sickos who like Legolas/Gimli so much easier. (No offense meant to people who like L/G but I find it innappropriate and highly disturbing...) But since he didn't I'll live with it, I guess. I do like the idea that he found somebody special in the Grey Havens though.

It would have stopped (hopefully) the L/G stuff, but...I don't really see the point of giving Legolas a girl. He's not that important of a character, and if you notice, neither Frodo, nor Merry, nor Pippin, nor Gimli get their own girls either. So it's not like he's the odd one out.

*kills TN*
...I didn't think he didn't need a lover simply because he was....too much of a pretty-boy. I just think he didn't have a large enough role to warrant it.

Er - Merry and Pippin both marry after the Quest is completed. Merry marries Estella Bolger, and Pippin marries Diamond of Long Cleave (and has one son, Faramir). And I think Gimli was "spoiled" (as John Rhys-Davies put it) by Galadriel.

But, this is the movie section, so Merry and Pippin haven't married yet. If this was in the book section, it would be a different matter.

Ah. Good point. Though perhaps we should count the little bit near the end of Sam's wedding when Pip catches the bouquet and sees a girl Hobbit...

Maybe, but....that was only a very slight implication.

Legolas is in three out of three of the movies, Faramir is in two of the three and Eowyn is in two of three and they got together --- I don't agree that it's his role that is the reason for his lack of the romantic idealism on his part.
Legolas is a member of the fellowship, he is Prince to a completely different race of elves that were absent in the movie (minus FOTR EE), and he's got a sweet twing on his bow, just because he doesn't have a dramatic character plot-line doesn't mean he doesn't have a big enough part.
Reason is just basic.
Legolas didn't have a lady love in the books, he didn't have one in the movie.
Fanfiction isn't counted.

Lol. No Fanfiction.
If you think about it, though, both Faramir and Éowyn have [s]larger[/s]more important roles in the movies than Legolas. They add more to the plot, etc. That's what I mean when I say he doesn't have a big enough part. He just doesn't add a lot to the plot.

Eh... I think of Legolas as a very independant person... I couldna ever picture him with a lass.

Yeah, that would be weird. And the lass would be promptly murdered by the fangirls, I'm sure.
