How much easier would it have been if all of the fellowship had the ability to sail to the undying lands? It was excellent that Frodo, Bilbo and Gandalf, as well as Galadriel and Elrond etc. were able to go...but what about those who helped destroy the ring? E.g. without Sam...where would Frodo be? And the ring would still be in Power. Without Aragorn/Legolas/Gimli, where would Merry and Pippin be? Without Merry and Pippin, how would Frodo have left the Shire? They all have equal power in this so why not give them all a chance to go!
Aragorn would have been able to Marry Arwen there and there would not have been such a massive controversy over it! Although Aragorn was Ilsildurs Heir, surely he could have easily passed on that responsibility and the fact he felt compelled to have to do it, in order to save Arwen and marry in peace there as well as live forever with their children??

He couldnt have passed on the throne. It dint work like that. Most people thought that the line was broken, that why there was a stuard.

in the book legolas and gimli and sam do go but since this is about the movie... yea, Aragorn adn Arwen should have left after aragorn's rule is coming to an end and then merry and pipin would hop along... that would be so cute. hehe. i wish that could've happened.. oh well. its great as it is.

But If tolien had written it that way, it would have taken a whole lot of controversy out of the books and movies, makin them not so,... Dense I suppose.

I'm writing a fanfic where Aragorn gose to Valinor to claim Arwen. I thought this was a refernce to it, but I think he would be happy there if he didn't have all that responsibility.

That for me woudl be a bit too much like Eriol of england or Tuor. It just wouldnt make sense that the heir of numenor was allowed where hsi ancestors were not.

WOW! Fanfic! How awesome would that be!
Yes i completeley understand and agree that it was clearly for the best that Aragorn remained in Middle-Earth and his sons will grow up to be such great leaders, as he once was.
I still believe it would have been easier lol but then the story would have been totally different and the timelines etc. would just disappear!

I haven't got to that part yet, it's kinda toward the end, but it's still a pretty good read.

This is a relly long thread.
Even though mortal people move to Valinor, they'll reamin mortal. Tolkien was explicit on that matter. so it does not make much difference! right?
