Alright, me and my bro. were arguing upon a matter a last few nights ago. He said, that when everyone at Aragorn's coronation bows to the 4 hobbits, he says "Merry and Pippin dont deserve to be bowed to. Sure Sam does, he helped Frodo and accomplished alot, and Frodo was the Ringbearer and beared the Ring for so long." and I said, "Merry and Pip do derserve it. They risk their lives to help Frodo destroy the Ring, and they helped fight in all the battles."
My bro. is so dumb and still disagree's with me. but do you think they deserved it?

Hello!!! Seriously, without Merry and Pippin, Boromir would have lived, therefore he would have caused further harm to the fellowship, the three hunters wouldn't have had to chase Merry and Pippin, so they would have stuck with Frodo and not met up with Gandalf in Fangorn, they wouldn't have met Theoden and won the battle of helm's deep. Pippin wouldn't have traveled with Gandalf later and fought at Minas Tirith, he wouldn't have saved Faramir from the fire, or Gandalf from being hit by an orc, Merry wouldn't have traveled with Eowyn and helped kill the Witch King..... if it weren't for Merry and Pippin there probably wouldn't have been a happy ending to the story. So Yes, yes, YES... Merry and Pippin deserved the bow just as much as Frodo and Sam did

Yes! Pandora basically said everything I had in mind. Merry and Pippin were just as important as any other character in the story! If it wasn't for them, Treebeard and the Ents wouldn't have gone to war at Isengard and defeat Saruman...and...and...well everything Pandora just said.

I try. I have more points to tell my bro. that Merry and Pip deserve it:
Pippin saved Gandalf, when that orc was about to kill him {ROTK Minas Tirith battle} and he warned Gandalf about Denethor burning Faramir, and jumped on the fiery thing Faramir was laying on and pushed him off. and Merry helped Eowyn defeat the Witch-King. and he fought a good deal in Pelenor.
there, now if that wont prove my brother wrong, I dont know what will. I think maybe he thinks I am right, but he just doesn't wanna give in and say i was right.

As with all other brothers and sisters (that's exactly what me and my sister do sometimes) So yes, hope you win the arguement!
Also, in the movie, Pippin was the one who lit the beacon. Without it, Rohan wouldn't have gone to Gondor's aid and Minas Tirith would've lost to the Orcs.

Mery helped stab the Witch-King, saving Eowyn's life.

If I told that to my bro. he would save 'Oh It was all gandalf's idea. Pippin did nothing'
I am serious. yes, i told him all I posted above, and he said 'so what if Pippin saved Faramir's life. They dont need Faramir. and that orc would not have killed Gandalf, it would just wound him, and if he did, Gandalf could just heal himself, he's a Wizard'

i think they deserved it. they risked their lives for frodo and sam by getting captured by the orcs. they were also very brave when they escaped and on their journey with the ents. and also in the battle along with the ents. they TOTALLY deserved it.

So what? SO WHAT? Say that to my pointy stick of death, little boy! Sorry. I am very protective of Faramir. BUt Merry and Pip are very important. Don't forget that in the book they were the ones (along with Sam and Fatty) who pretty much set Frodo up on the quest. Without them Frodo would have been a Nazgul snack back in Hobbiton.

Hmm...still not enough to persuade him eh? Lemme think...
In the movie, Merry helped lead Sam and Frodo to Buckleberry Ferry and away from the Ringwraiths.
Heh, I'm pretty much doing all I can to help you win the arguement. Victory shall be ours!
I mean yours! *cough*

Lucky?
So, Merry stabbed the witch king, that gave Eowyn the chance to kill him. If he hadnt, then the ring wraiths would have had a leader, been much more coordinated, and would probably attacked much harder on the Gondorians at the black gate.
Also, Pippin tricked Tree beard to going past Isengard(sp) so that he would get the entmoot(sp again) to fight Sauromaun. Defeating him, so that he could help sauron anymore.
Honestly, how can someone ignore everything that Merry and Pippin did? Its rediculous to pass all these things off as chance, whe everything that hapenned to frodo was eventually impacted by Merry, pippin and the rest of the fellowship. Also, Than every "lucky break" that frodo got, wouldnt that be called chance too? If merry and Pippin dont deserve to be bowed to, because everything they acomplished was pure luck, then why should frodo sam, or even the rest of the fellowship get any credit forwhat they did, since in the long run, all they did was get lucky? Its not logical to look at it that way. *steps off soap box* I'm done
