Yes, in the movie version, Pippin and Merry sacrifice almost as much as Sam and Frodo--almost. So yes, they do. In the books, though, more of the story is developed, and it's fairly easy to see why Aragorn places Frodo and Sam (not Pippin/Merry) on his throne for everyone to honor. Frodo and Sam actually ended up sacrificing more, going on the biggest quest of all. The others were supporting them, acting as decoys. I can't help but remember Aragorn's words to Sam "A long road for all of us, but yours has been the longest of all." Pippin and Merry did sacrifice a lot, they also came into their own, but their roles weren't quite as vital.I see where your brother comes from.

If we are to go by movie then Merry and Pippin do deserve it.

i think the whole fellowship deserves a bow. the whole nine of em...well eight now. but if we add other ppl such as faramir, ewoyn, eldrond the lis t will be long but they all helped nonetheless. the witchking is a pretty big reason why merry deserves a bow cuz if the witch king hadnt gone then he would've surely killed the men when they fought at Mordor and when fighting there Merry and pip must have killed a lot of orcs that would have killed aragorn and others. and if pip hadnt dropped teh skull into the well in moria the balrog would never have been defeated and might have been used against the men as an ultimate weappon adn Gandalf wouldnt have turned into the White wizard allowing him such incredible powers to remove saruman from theoden etc etc......
p.s be more agressive and make up wierd excuses just so ure right, cuz u r. hehe

Hello!!! Seriously, without Merry and Pippin, Boromir would have lived, therefore he would have caused further harm to the fellowship,

I highly doubt Boromir would have caused further harm to the Fellowship *slowly grows resentful* But anyways, of course, Merry and Pippin deserve a bow. They distracted the Uruk-hai from Frodo and they roused the Ents (in both the movie and book). Pippin saves Faramir and Merry stabbed the Witch-King, distracting him and allowing Eowyn to finish him off. So of course they deserve a bow. In fact, I think everyone in the Fellowship deserved a bow, yes, including Boromir *hisses at anyone that disagrees*.

In that case, what you do is you take your brother, tie him to his bed, make him go to sleep, and play a tape that has a voice saying, "Pippin and Merry deserve a bow" over and over again. It's called hypnopædia. Though I'm not so sure if it actually does work....worth a try.

Agreed ^^ Merry and Pippin are two great characters and Lord of the Rings would be rather...empty without the two. But how to persuade your brother...yes...let's do what Caunion said. =)
