 Post subject: Arwen Delted Scenes
PostPosted: September 27th, 2005, 4:12 pm

Okay, I have been robbed. Where and what are these pictures from, the ones which contain Arwen in Lothlorien, speaking with Galadriel and the one where she in battle armor of some type? Why were they cut from the movie, does anyone know? I mean, I bought the extended edition in hopes of seeing more Arwen scenes, mainly, the one where Elrond tells her he can't protect her anymore while she is standing on a bridge-but that was left out, now I learn I was denied more. This is wrong, just wrong. So anyone who has information and details, please provide, I will have to envision the greatness in my mind.

alright here's what I know...

as for the where..i'm not sure where, but I know i've seen them before online. you could probably do a google search and find a bunch.

Arwen on the bridge: part of this was in the RotK theatrical trailer, but was cut - even from the SEE...yeah not cool. Yeah this is the scene where Elrond says something like, ".......I cannot help you anymore." I don't really remember exactly how it went...

Arwen in Lothlorien: This was a script plan dropped by pj. To involve her in TTT, pj was gonna have Arwen go to Lothlorien and then to Helm's Deep with the elves. At Lothlorien, Elrond would have held council with Galadriel and Celeborn about whether or not to send the elves to fight. To replace this scence in the final version, Elrond does his telepathy scene with Galadriel.

Arwen in armor at Helm's Deep: See above. In the final cut, to get the Arwen footage in, pj invented dreams and flashbacks for Aragorn to have of her.

yeah so these scenes never made the extended cuts...the Lothlorien and Helm's Deep instances I can see why - but not the RotK Arwen on the bridge scene...I was looking forward to that too.

More info about this can be found in this thread i think:
Forum Index -> Miscellaneous Movie Discussion > Arwen scene??

Yeah, here's what I know:

About the Arwen & Galadriel picture: Must have been a scene they didn't even put in the EE or anywhere, because if I rememer correctly, no one ever really talked about a scene like that.

Arwen in armour: That's the part for when they originally had her fight at Helm's Deep at Aragorn's side, because they felt they needed something to bring Arwen and Aragorn together. Later they just decided to cut that part out. Of everything.

"I cannot protect you anymore": I really don't know. I guess just another scene they decided to cut out of even the EE.

Yeah, it kind of stinks they cut those parts out.

Btw, welcome to the forum! :welcome: ;)

I kinda wish they had decided to put Arwen in Helm's Deep. I realize it would have totaly differed from the book and made lots of people mad, which is why they decided not to, but at the same time- it could have been really cool!

Yeah, it would have been kewl, but I'm actually really glad they didnt. I dont think I could stand another scence with Arwen in the wrong place, doing the wrong things, stealing peoples lines....
I still havent forgiven peoples for excluding Glorfindel... :disgust:

And I wish they hadnt cut the scene with her on the bridge... cos that included a line from the books, and it was even said by the right people, lol. I think it brings the book and the movie together just that little bit more, with direct quotes. And it keeps the purists happy. ;) :P

I am also actually kinda glad they cut out the Arwen at Helms Deep scene. It would have been just too wrong.

While I am distraught, I also think that Arwen at Helm's Deep would have been a little crazy-but how dare they film it then tease me! It would have been great! A

About the Arwen & Galadriel picture:All I know about this scene is it never made it to the EE.

Arwen in armour: Originally she was going to fight at Helm's Deep so that she and Aragorn would be able to see eachother. Also it would give the film makers a chance to remind the audience that Arwen was still there. I'm glad they took it out!!!

"I cannot protect you anymore":Another "dying Arwen" scene. I would have loved to see it, I was kind of unhappy that they left it out of the EE.

EDIT: All of the pics should work now. :) Sorry for the inconvenience.

Those pics of Arwen fighting are just soooo wrong. I'm glad they left out that story change. I just see her as a completly different character.

Wrong maybe but it would've been interesting to see the twist it gave the story. That's not to say I'm not a book fan, I'm just more open than some people...(no offense meant to anyone)

Hey, Arwen wasn't actually cut out of the Helm's Deep scene. Weta just pasted Legolas over her. They made a few slips, check these pictures:

Behind Eomer:

Can see sword and sleeve:

If you watch Helms Deep frame by frame you can spot her in the background, as those pics show.

Wait... Those pics they're actually from the final cut? I don't recognize them...

As for the deleted scene in RotK, PJ said that there was much more footage they didn't include even in the EE. They're saving those and the bleepers for later editions they promised! :bounce:
