Just a stupid little question: Did anyone else notice that the Rammas Echor, the wall around the Pellenor Fields, was missing in the movie? Or that Minas Tirith's first wall, supposed to be made out of the same black stone as the tower of Orthanc, was white?

I suppose there was quick way to note that the wall of Minas Tirith was made out of the same stone as Orthanc. Most likely because they didn't have the time, and because PJ was relying on the illustrations of Alan Lee, whom in most of his drawings of Minas Tirith and of the Pelennor, did not have Rammas Echor. Who knows, maybe the stone can be both white and black?

I noticed the wall was missing when I was listening to a Led Zeppelin song based on the battle of the Pelennor Fields(Cool, huh?), and they mentioned the Rammas(Kind of, really when Gandalf talks to the guys repairing it before the battle) it made me start thinking about its absence in the film.

I hadn't read the books when I saw the movie, so I didn't notice at the time.
But when I read that part, I wondered why it was completely ignored in the film. Mind - it would have made the charge of the Rohirrim in the movie look totally unspectacular if they had had to find a gate to go through first to get on to the Pelennor fields.
Perhaps that was why it was jettisoned?

That's true.

That is a very good point, it wouldn't have became my fav scene. Who knows P.J. could have done that on purpose. He tries to stay true to the books, remember?

The charge of the Rohirrim is one of my favourite scenes as well. I know that much of it is computer generated, but it has been so well done that it looks completely real. Definitely one of the most spectacular scenes in the film.
