I didn't see a thread on this...

The final credit sequence has to be one of the classiest endings to any movie I've seen. They didn't cheap out, and just roll names past you.

The portraits and drawings and the accompanying music is worth watching all on its own (and I've been known to do that when a fit takes me) I wonder if the drawings are colelcted in a book somewhere?

When it was in the theaters, I always stayed to watch the credits.

I love the drawings. They're beautiful. I wish I could draw like that...

The drawings were a wonderful touch, and they were nicely done. I also love the song that plays throughout the credit, as it's so beautifully done by Annie Lennox. :)

The credits were also a part of the movie...just as beautiful as the film! And I really waited for them to come, with the music and all those sweet faces.. For me it was like, seeing all the characters one more time after the ending of the film..

Anyone know who drew the sketches? I do believe it was Alan Lee, but I could be wrong... =/

Yes, they were done by Allan Lee.

Here's a site that collected them, if you want to rurn them into avatars or sigs.

I'm am well known for watching the credits. I love the song 'Into The West', and the drawings are spectacular. I believe they were part of the concept art for the design of sets in the movies. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I didn't watch them in the theatre, they didn't even show them... but when I bought the DVD I just watched them over and over again. It's just such a beautiful ending for this beautiful story I think.

I only wish they'd done it for all of the LotR films. But it does make RotK extra special, that's for sure. Whenever I watch RotK I find myself watching the screen far longer because I love looking at those beautiful sketches. :D

The first time I saw the movie I was so busy chit chatting away to my friends about the awesomeness of it all as we were leaving that I didn't notice the credits. (I've never been one for watching credits at the cinema!)

I went to see it a second time on my Birthday with another friend - and as we were leaving I noticed the screen and saw the sketch of Elijah Wood. We stopped dead, halfway down the stairs and watched the rest of the credits from there.

I'm glad that they left that until the last film - it seemed such a fitting end to an epic 3 year journey.
