I don't know what I would do if I hear that Éowyn dies... I would be shocked and couldn't react to anything...
But, you're right, Haldir, it wouldn't make much sense if either Faramir or Éowyn die. It would just make everyone so sad that they couldn't realise the true interesting story, the destroying of the ring, anymore. They would be distracted...

There was a reason: to defend GOndor. He would not die for nothing.

of course he'd die for Gondor... *agrees with Éowyn* I also think that it would have taken everyone's mind away from the ring and all that..

I agree with Haldir. It simply wouldn't work with the story seeing as Eowyn fell hard for Aragorn and then got her heart broken. She deserved a happy ending.

I think it would be a too ending for Faramir: Burned by his own father! Should the House of the Stewards really end like this, Boromir killed in battle, Faramir wounded in battle and afterwards burned?
And my beloved Éowyn slain by the Witchking... Éomer would be left alone, he has no family anymore, all are dead. I don't think that he could manage this loss easily and just get next king of Rohan...

Yes, poor Éomer... First he looses his parents, then his cousin, and then find the rest of his family dead on Pelennor fields. I can't imagine what he would feel and have to go through if this really would have taken place!

yes you're right. That would have been too sad. I don't know it somehow would have taken much of the hope in the books.

Back on topic people... we're talking about how we would feel if Faramir and Eowyn had both died.
I dunno how I would react, I think it depends on if it happened in the movie or the book.
Of course if it happened in the movie I would definitely be very angry at PJ for completely messing up the story plot. Now if it had happened in the book I would have been deeply grieved and confused as to why Tolkien decided that they should die.

Exactly Haldir. I mean, I do like Boromir, but I have to say, I love Faramir. A lot more so than Boromir anyway.
And if Eowyn had died, after all she's been through? With her family, and after killing the witch king? It just wouldn't make sense.

Boo hiss, I hated Denethor! I really didn't like him. He was stuck up, ignorant and didn't listen to Gandalf! Baaaaad Idea!! And he completely neglected Faramir!...little off topic..hehe
Iw ould never have forgiven tolkien had he killed Eowyn and Faramir. They deserved a happy ending after all they had been through!

Well, with Faramir it also depends on when and how he dies. Is he burned by Denethor or dies he during his attack on Osgiliath and was brought home to Denethor?
The second one we haven't discussed yet I believe. I wonder, how Denethor would have reacted when he sees his son dead, as he has "wished" for.
