How exactly did the Ringwraiths' "die"? Tolkien describes there ending as "shooting like flaming bolts, as caught in the fiery ruin of hill and sky they crackled, whithered, and went out."[-Return of the King, pg.276] I can't decide whether this means that they kind of blew up or they caught on fire as they did in the movie.

I think that it sort of is saying that they went out with a bang.

That's what I thought to Elegost, but it was different in the movie so I began to have second thoughts.

When I read the book I also interpreted it as them blowing up or wasting away, particularly since Sauron was the one keeping them alive, or as alive as you can be in that state. I would've rather seen them die this way, it would've made for a more appropriate end for them. Having them die, waste away, or simply combust would've given them a more appropriate ending in the film, since they were portrayed as these tragic beings.

I just thought they were engulfed in flames and died. If something else happened...well then I dunno.

What about their death in the movie? It looked like giant rocks fell on them.

But what about the Witch-King? Eowyn killed him.

as well described by Tolkien, they blew up somehow. In the movie, they crushed with eagles. Obviously Nazguls lost the battle and died

They fought with the eagles in the movie, but I do not think they were killed by them in the end. It just wouldn't have worked that way.

Blowing up sounds about right to me. Even when Eowyn kills the Witch King, he sort of...implodes, you might say.
