Man, I love these songs... so delicious satirically evil.
I know! That whole thing is sheer brilliance.

I'm obsessed with it... I think I've watched it completely 11 times this week. I can sing all the songs now... I'm scaring myself.

Oooh, favorite Evanescence song!

My brother started watching it I think three days after the first one had been released, and so he showed it to me. Then we eagerly awaited the second and third installments, and inflicted it on some of our other siblings. The last one just about made me cry though. *sniffles*

Teeth in the Grass - Iron and Wine
Pretty acousticness.
AF: Ah, yes, it was a sad ending, but a good one. Funny how often tragedy and comedy collide, and how easily.

I liked the ending in the sense that it was unexpected, and in my opinion it also said something strong about our culture... basically, we've given up on happy endings.

True that. Well, honestly (prepare yourself for a little FM speech here ) I believe happy endings are relative. Say hero kills villain and gets girl. Regardless of how evil that villain was... there was someone out there who loved him. What about their happy ending? And besides... with no pain... joy would be lame and purposeless. We need the sharp contrast of ugly reality to cause us to see the true beauty of love. In my opinion, anyway.

I definitely have to agree with that - that we need the "sharp contrast of ugly reality to cause us to see the true beauty of love" as you so beautifully put it. I also believe that happy ending is relative, and honestly, I don't like happy endings; I like bittersweet or sad but satisfying endings. In the case of Dr. Horrible I consider it a sad ending because he lost the only thing that might have saved him from evil. Just my thoughts.

Ah, yes. I see what you mean there. That was something of an extinguisher to any hope for his character... but perhaps not. It ended rather abruptly... who knows? And Joss Whedon mentioned perhaps a sequel at ComicCon. But back to endings... that's one of the things I like about Joss Whedon's stuff. He seems to understand how to balance everything so well; joy, humor, pain, suffering... like in Firefly/Serenity.
