I'm going to be honest, I still cry over it too. Whether I am able to shed tears or not, I still cry.

No no-the elves are not porcelain dolls, they were PORTRAYED as porcelain dolls in the helms deep scenes. Big difference.
As for other elves beeing cooler than Legolas, that all depends on your definition of cool. All elves are different, just like mortals. So just because one human is better at playing the piano, and another is better at sports, does that make one cooler than the other? I don't think so.
Not that I am glad Haldir died but what is wrong with dying on his knees? I thought that was sweet and dramatic.

That's what I said before Miriel wrote: As for other elves beeing cooler than Legolas, that all depends on your definition of cool. All elves are different, just like mortals. Er yeah, it's just a personal preference... but personally I don't even think that "cool" is a good word to describe an Elf, but that's just me. I still think Haldir's better because again... that's just me. Miriel wrote: Not that I am glad Haldir died but what is wrong with dying on his knees? I thought that was sweet and dramatic.
What kind of warrior likes dying on his knees?

Agreed. They could have given him a Boromir-drama type one...

Yeah, at least Boromir died lying down... and at least it was more heroic than being careless and not seeing the Uruk come up behind him... Miriel wrote: What kind of warrior likes dying, period?
None, I give you that... but if they did die, the last way anyone would want to spend their last moments is on their knees and in front of their enemy...

Okay...yeah, you know, Boromir's death scene was the most moving to me. It should have been more like that...maybe he gets wounded and then passes from the world in a comfortable bed, with time to give last words! Or something...
We ought to re-write his death. You know, just for the movie. Like how it should have been, if he had to die at all.

I saw the movie before reading the book (well, before scouring tuckborough.net), and didn't realize Haldir wasn't supposed to die at Helm's Deep. He wasn't even supposed to be there! I didn't mind him being there so much, but to kill him off? Mean.

I suppose that in movies one must make sacrifices for the sake of drama and such...

Actually, if I remember, Haldir stabbaed or slashed the Uruk, turned arounnd, and the Uruk took a swipe at him as he fell
