Yes!!! I saw some pictures... they couldn't have made a more brilliant choice. I was a little critical of them making a movie out of it at first (seriously, do they have to make movies out of all original literature?) but I've rather forgiven them now.

By the way, this poem "hypothetical" leaves me breathless.

Always a possibility AF! :teehee: I think the thing is, it's not necessarily that you "know me well" in the sense most people do, I just think we are so similar sometimes that you're intuition supplies info about me... hehe.

That's a definite possibility... :teehee: How have you been, by the way? It's been a few days since I talked to you.

It's good choice... but I won't be seeing it. For many reasons. It's not that it looks bad, it's just that I know for a fact that it won't live up to the book. And I don't want my visualizations of the characters and scenery to be ruined by watching Viggo Mortensen run around in what is practically my backyard (Seriously, why did they have to film it in rural Pennsylvania?).

It's my favorite. Listen to the song version, if you can find it.

*hides from Twi-haters in thread*
(Maironiel: I love your banner. Gorgeous. What a scene... )

AF: Okayish. I have a very hopeful job oppurtunity and a new violin, so that weighs out the fact that my local Strings Ensemble (which I'm responsible for) is going down the drain and the usual family stress. How've you been?

timx4: I can understand. I didn't want to see I Am Legend for similar reasons... though I ended up doing it anyway. And is there a song of that? I'm going to look it up

I'm usually not this uptight about movie adaptations of books. But The Road has practically become a sacred text for me. And the pictures I've seen so far of locations and minor characters are.. unimpressive.

Is this honestly their attempt at the tractor trailer scene?
I guess in my mind I see a kind of heightened reality that they didn't go for. *shrugs*

Oh, I hope you get the job! I know that's really important to you. And the new violin must make up for a lot. I'm sorry about the rest though. I've been mostly alright. I'm in the process of making some decisions that will change my life, which means I've been very thoughtful and under a lot of pressure as of late. But God is faithful. :)

tim, I feel ridiculously rude for not talking to you yet tonight. How are you? How's school (or should I avoid such a painful topic)?

Can't see picture. =/
Like I mentioned earlier, I'm just getting tired of all the books-movies. You'd think filmmakers would try to get some original ideas without bumming off of the authors. Erg. And with books like The Road... there is so much that can be expressed through words that just can't through visual. I'm still going to see it and give it a chance, especially for Viggo, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
(Randomly, I shall explode in fury if they ever try to make a movie out of The Book Thief.

AF: Eh, life impacting decisions... I'll be praying for those. And I saw your last rant in the thread (not sure how old it was.) I'm sorry for all the complications in your relationships... and I truly wish for you some better friends - real friends - than you have now.

"Yellow" - Coldplay

AF: Teehee. :P I'm doing very well. I finally made a move in a relationship that's been driving me up the wall for a couple of months, and my reluctance to commit hasn't ruined it for me. And there's the fact that I only have two more school days before a ten day vacation. :D
FM: ...Odd. http://img101.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... ge3xn2.jpg
I'm with you completely. I mean, if they could actually translate it to screen well, that would be one thing. But with some stuff (Ex: City of Ember) they're just raping the source material.
YES. All of the half-mad thoughts and memories of the father. The unbelievable descriptions of the scenery that are more vivid than any picture can be. The last paragraph of the novel. That haunting description of the child making the last music for a dying planet.
(You don't know? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0816442/ They've already had to scrape me off the walls.)

"Mono" - Fightstar

Thanks. And yes, everything in that post still applies... life would feel at least a little easier if I had others to share the road with. But of course, I know I have Someone always beside me, and I hold onto the belief that no struggles last forever. I'm waiting for the sun to rise, and make the darkness go away...

I'm sorry about your ensemble drama, by the way. Not fun AT ALL.

tim: I'm glad you're doing well. :) And breaks from school ROCK. I get two whole days off next week. :teehee:
