Just got back from seeing it in 2D. I missed the first 5 min though. I never read any of the books, and only remember snipets from the cartoon movie. So going in I didnt know what to expect, and was just looking forward to seeing Johnny Depp as Hatter(the tea party is one of the scenes I did remember).
But I thought it was awesome. I liked Alice's armor near the end and more than a few times almost expected Hatter to kiss Alice a few times. Hatter did not disipoint me, for he is mad, as he should be, lol.

Aw, I'm sad people are sort of disappointed with it. Perhaps I should scale back my massively huge expectations.

Alright, I admit I'm a baby.. but I was so unprepared for the poking eyes out-scene. I'm sure everyone else will be fine though!!
Yeah, I loved the Mad Hatter. I was afraid he would be... well, too much over the top, after all, it's a role Lewis Carroll could have dedicated specifically to Johnny Depp himself, but he did a great job. Like Eru said he had this melancholy side that suited the character just perfect.
Eru:: So think, woman! Try to remember what was going on with the on/off Scottish, it bothered me so much!!! I loved him speaking Scottish though, it just seemed so inconsistant.
And yes, Taur, I think the reason why people are just above average with the movie is that we've built expectations the size of The Statue of Liberty over the past four months. I mean I KNEW the movie was never gonna fulfil my huge expectations. I just looove the hype, but I loved the movie and tried to be fair to it.

With the poking the eye out scene, it turned out to be something quite... needed in the end plot in a way for her to get the sword, which I thought was interesting because I had totally forgotten about the eye part minutes after it had happened. And that kind of stuff doesn't bother me, especially since there was no blood and it hardly showed anything when it comes to realism.
I went in with no expectations at all, like I said, and I thought it was awesome. I kind of went in on a wim because I was bored and it just so happened to be playing. And it was the only movie I could get into being 16, and most other movies being rated R at the time, and being with my 16 and 17 year old friends.
Oh, and I looked it up why the Mad Hatter had the scottish accent now and then and this is what I found:
Quote: JOHNNY DEPP has revealed he was inspired by a Scottish accent for his portrayal of the Mad Hatter in new film Alice in Wonderland.
Speaking at the movie's premiere in London last night, the Hollywood star said: “I was going sort of in the direction of Glasgow.
"There is a gravity to Glasgow in terms of the accent. There is a gravity and strength to it that I really appreciated.”
I'm not sure if this is what Eru was talking about, but this was all I could find quickly browsing.
Although my second favorite character other than Mad Hatter had to have been the crazy rabbit that kept throwing things. I especially like when he was pooring the tea into a broken tea cup and it was going into a nonbroken tea cup. And then he throws the nonbroken one and looks into the broken one expecting tea and is like "tea..." with a somewhat forlorn look on his face...
Okay, I'll stop before I give away any more spoilers!

Awesome film. I went as a traditional Alice (blue dress and everything) and got some odd looks.

^PICTURES! Please!!
Eruraina:: Thanks, the Scottish does fit his character but that still doesn't explain why he was only speaking Scottish sometimes, sort of when he was reciting the prophecy and a couple of other times... even when he was having a normal conversation...
I loved the Chesire Cat! First, I was like Noooo, he's not supposed to have a body!! But I loved him and I think Stephen Fry did a great voice job. I think his voice matched his character the best.. that soft, velvety, floaty voice! I mean I love Alan Rickman and even more so his voice but I'm not sure he voice fits a blue catarpillar.... not sure at all!
And I loved the Red Queen. She was insane but Helena didn't go over the top with her.

Well I saw this today and I really liked it.
But firstly, the things I didn't like.
Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dee - Seriously, they were revolting to look at! I don't like Matt Lucas anyway, but did they have so show so many close-ups? Yeauch.
Knave of Hearts - MY GOD WHY!!?? He was an awesome character but they made him so darn tall, he looked weird and all CGI, it was so noticeable that it just didn't look right. If The Queen can have a large head and it looks natural, why did they have to ruin the character I was most looking forward to?! *sniff* At least he didn't die.
I have to applaud TB for trying to give some sort of story and I think he did pretty well. However, I can understand it if people are confused with the story as there were so many random things which make sense if you know the story, but it might be a bit *too* much sometimes.
The Cheshire Cat was AWESOME! Voice, animation, it was PERFECT!
And the castles and scenery and Wonderland in particular were really, really impressive.

I wasn't too fond of Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dee either, and it kept bothering me that I wasn't sure whether the voice was Matt Lucas' or not... I've been watching too much Little Britain lately...
I think they should have done more with Stayne, developed on his background and his relationship to the Red Queen - and they could've had him play a bigger role in the chase... or something...
YAY, I'm gonna see it again on Sunday - and 3D this time.

I know.. it was horrible. It was something that would be nice to see with the end credits or circulating on YouTube but NOT as an integral part of the movie. It looked like an all too happy-Disney-ending...

It was quite possibly the biggest mistake Tim Burton has ever made in one his films. Never has there been something that I have absolutely hated and wished hadn't existed.
It was just... wrong. I was actually nervous about the Futterwacken, because I just had this feeling it would not be good. And the when Alice tried to do it..... WRONG!

I thought the Futterwacken, albeit weird, was funny actually. It was a total Tim Burton moment. Several people, including myself, found it highly amusing in the theater.

I'm excited to see the movie again on Sunday. I very rarely pay the horrendously high ticket prices to go see the same movie twice but I'm hoping for another experience.
[And by the way, I corrected 'subtitles' in my last post, of course I mean credits.]
