Amen to this.
I've never really understood why some portion of the DW fans went on a spastic rage about Matt. The Doctor has been changing his face over the decades. Why now is it such a bad thing? DT fangirlism gone insane is what it is.
I've already previously stated how much I adore Matt Smith's portrayal of one of my all time fave fictional characters. He hasn't quite reached Tom Baker levels of awesomeness in my eyes but he is in fact the closest to recreate that wide eyed insanity that only Tom could bring to the role.
But yes, i digress lol. We are all fans no matter wether we prefer Matt, David, Tom or even Peter Davidson. Every actor since William Hartnell has brought there own A-game to the character and that is what makes the Doctor stand the test of time imo

Exactly. The Doctor is the Doctor. Each person brings their own little bits to him, but he's still a fantastic character. I don't understand why people didn't want to give Matt Smith a chance either. I mean, Tennant took over where Eccleston left off, and there had been others before that. And there will be others after. It's very much like James Bond to me. Sure, you can have your favorites, but liking one over the other doesn't mean you have to hate the rest.
On a side note, I really want to see the classic Who. My friend loves Tom Baker, and since I've heard tons about him I want to see his.

Of course, love.
Also, I personally don't see what all the hype over Tom Baker was. He was pretty chill, but I don't like, do cartwheels over him. Personally, I liked Peter Davison waaaay more than Baker. It was just that he did like, hella seasons.

I can't really explain it to be honest. He just clicked with me with that big hat, scarf, wide eyed nuttery and of course K-9 <3 and those feelings have stuck with me through my childhood into adulthood. He will always have a very special place in my heart.
Peter Davidson was great definetly up there in terms great Doctors. Quite a handsome chap in his youth too
The only Doctor that has ever irked me was McGann. But that was more to do with the movie than him as an actor. But I've stated on here how much I really disliked that tv movie, no need to go over it again -shifty-
That being said the more I think about it, the more I loved Eric Roberts' portrayal of the Master. Camper than a row of tents but enjoyable.

I wasn't a fan of Colin Baker AT ALL. I could not STAND him. Guhbluh. I didn't really mind McGann that much, I thought he was kind of cute, to be honest.
Also, Nurr, you definitely need to watch some Classic!Who.

Colin Baker is only above McGann by default really. If the movie did not exist then Colin would definetly languish at the bottom of the list.
And I concur. Watch classic Who, yes a lot of it can be looked at as cheesy now but the heart of the show is still there, polystyrene sets or not.

I knooow. I just need to find it and the time. But I will get there.
So, I was having fun with livejournal and Doctor Who. Pretty much sums up a lot of my thoughts on the new Who.

OMGS that is amazing and she sums up a lot of my feelings too. Particulary how much I dislike the Doctor/Companion as a romantic relationship, how completely underappreciated Martha was and how completely mindblowingly awesome Rory is.
I am SO snagging the Rory wallpapers lol

Christmas special:
A) Arthur got his name in the opening credits and
B) I wear a stetson now. Stetsons are cool.
And, I'll be back when I've gotten sleep.

You know, I was looking at reviews for this. People didn't like it. Apparently is was too touching or something. I don't get it. I thought it was cute and good as it was. A nice, Scrooge-like story with Michael Gambon being awesome! How can it be bad? He really did do a great job. And fog-swimming fish. Pretty cool.
Hands down best part thought was the Doctor's psychic paper: "I am a mature responsible adult." "All it has is squiggly lines." "Short circuited. ..finally a lie too big." Too perfect. And I loved his "I'm showing you the future right now" part. Nicely done.

People didn't like it? wth
It was AWESOME. By far and away my favourite Xmas special EVER. It was just....words can't express how much I enjoyed it.
Michael Gambon was just outstanding.
Matt was brilliant
The Fez returned!!!
A Tom Baker scarf sighting!! -dies-
I just...-sigh- it was just wonderful from beginning to end. The carol itself...mesemerising. I had tears I won't even lie.

I loved the Christmas special as well. Wow, I didn't realize how much I missed Doctor Who until I watched it last night. I thought the story was lovely. I especially like the "I'm showing you your future now" part. I thought that was extremely clever and really emotional.
I can't wait for the next season! The Doctor in a cowboy hat? Oh hell yeah! . Spring can't come soon enough.

Nurr, I've got to say, I LOVED those wallpapers. I just might steal your ideas for a little while meself.
About the Christmas special. Yeah I kinda put it off to today and here were my thoughts.
Amy in the kissogram officer and Rory in the centurion outfit. In the Honeymoon Suite. Just what were those two up to?
"I am a mature and responsible adult." ROFLMAO!!!
The improvement of Young!Kerzen's taste in fashion with Eleven. The fezes, the bowties, the scarves.
Riding a shark in a sleigh. Now that'll be something to tell my future kids, River and Jayne Sulu....(Yes, I am totally naming my future kids after River Tam and Jayne Cobb.)
The Ghost of Christmas Future. Absolutely hauntingly beautiful and sad and heartwarming.
Too touching? BFS!!!! (The first word is bull) It's a Christmas special for god's sakes. It's supposed to be too touching. What? As opposed to the other Christmas episodes that didn't feel really Christmasy at all.
I miss you, Eleven. *huggles*
