I'll vote Eöl. I have nothing against him, but I like Fëanor and his sons and I have a neutral opinion about Maeglin.

That was Luthien's brother, IIRC. He was the one who played the music she would dance too.
I reckon there are probably "eviler" elves that are not mentioned in any books. I know this is technically impossible, but there were probably some elves that we don't hear about who turn to Morgoth and slay some of their own kin.
Speaking of which, the Kin-slaying was pretty evil, that was mainly Feanor's doing, wasn't it?

Not as evil as plotting to hand over an entire kingdom to Morgoth.

I've never liked Feanor. He is my least favorite.
Eol is a close second...ugh. They way he kept Aradhel as practically a prisoner...
As for Maeglin...eheh, I'v always liked his character. Like, as in the same way I like Anakin/Darth Vader. He has my pity. Unfortunately, he died before he had a chance to redeem his actions...

I partially agree with ur opinion about Maeglin. I really liked his personality when he was a young person, because of the way he was interested in his mother's family and helped to escape from Eol. But after arriving in Gondolin his personality changed and from that point on I don't like him at all anymore and therefore he's one of my least favourite elves

Thingol
Can't stand the guy. He was all very well in the beginning, back when he was Elwe. But then he turned into this self-righteous stuck-up bigot. Sending Beren off after a Silmaril hoping Morgoth would do his dirty work for him and kill the poor guy who had commited no crime except to be human and fall in love with his daughter, and destroying so many other lives in the process by awakening the Oath of Fëanor, I can understand his being mad that the Noldor killed his kindred, the Teleri, but some of the things he did as a result of it were completely unjust. Banning Quenya for instance, how is it that he thinks he has the right to tell people what languages they're allowed to speak? And making Aredhel go through Nan Dungortheb, which could have gotten her killed right then and there and was the reason she was separated from her companions who might have prevented her later fate if they'd been with her. (so ultimately, fall of Gondolin: all Thingol's fault) Then he's just so generally stuck-up, I get that he didn't like men because of the dreams he had about them, but his little speech to the Dwarves about how superior he was to there kind was bigoted no matter what his cause for being ticked off at them. And his claim of being Lord of Beleriand, when he wouldn't even lift a finger to help when Maedhros tried to gather an army to save that very same Beleriand. And he still claims to be it's Lord after he's let it fall to the Orcs. Maedhros said, "A king is he who can hold his own." I say, "A king is he who defends his kingdom."
But I guess the thing that bugs me most about Thingol isn't so much his arrogance (there were a lot of other characters who had plenty of that who I like well enough), but the way no one ever called him out on all the wrong he did. That he was seen as some sort of great and wonderful king.

Maeglin for what he did to Gondolin. So agreed =)

I do not like the little elves are Maeglin, was subsequently discontinued. I chose Maeglin, however, because in my opinion, he did more harm to no one in his life than the cut-off, especially since he did to the people of Gondolin...

Eep! I love Maeglin! He was so original! Sure, he was weak. Sure, he killed a ton of people. But he was really cool! I mean, I don't know what I mean! Just, the vision I have in my head of him is pretty clear. He didn't mean to do all of that! It wasn't his fault, but he did it. I'm not trying to defend him or anything, but I think he's a pretty neat character.
His obsession with his cousin, Idril: He had never really seen other Elves besides his mother and father. So, if you're thrown into a situation like that, what would you do? He could have turned around and found some other Elf but he didn't. That was bad on his part.
Eol. He was interesting. Bad. But interesting.
Feanor: he was pretty neat. Very prideful though.
The Sons of Feanor: they weren't very bad, but they were held under the oath. So, it wasn't their fault that they caused a ton of problems.
I think the Elf I hate most (so far, I haven't read all of the books yet!) is that one that tried to kill Turin when he went out riding. I can't for the short life of me remember his name, but he was pretty annoying.

Haha I liked Feanor and his sons, well not so much Celegorm and Curufin. Probably my least favorite would be Thingol or Saeros. But it has been quite a long time since I read the Silmarillion...

Maeglin is such a rotten stinker. I never liked him. he was too much like his father from the beginning. Feanor was selfish. Very selfish. He got himself killed too.... As for his sons....I like Maedhros. And Maglor. The rest of them, not so much.... Thingol wasn't very nice, but I feel sorry for him more than anything. If you were an Elf King, you wouldn't want your only child marrying a human, whould you? Saeros--he's just spiteful, and was mad that Turin was getting more attention than he was. they both over reacted.
And no one ever said Elves couldn't be evil!!!!!

I agree with Nostariel. Those are my least favorite elves. If I had to choose, though, I'd say Maeglin. He betrayed everyone to Morgoth.
