He shook his head.
''It is passing.'' He pulled himself into a sitting position and saw how she looked to be in discomfort.
''Love, what's wrong?''

"Niko...get the ale..." her other arm came around her middle now and she doubled over "not again..." she whispered as she felt her body getting ready to let go. How could this happen? Why again? Her eyes squeezed shut and her teeth clenched.

Niko reached and grabbed the ale, taking a drink before handing it to Nienna, should she need it.
He moved closer to her, not sure what to do or say.
''Whatever you need'' He could only sit and watch. How he could do this again, he did not know. What had he done?

She gasped and she knew it had ended when she felt the warm blood. She fell forward to the floor. She had lost another child? Why? How? Tears slid from her eyes. "I'm sorry..." why had her body done this?

Niko broke as he saw her. She was blaming herself.
''It is not your fault'' he said, as he moved to her.
He turned her over and kissed her cheek.
''Never blame yourself.''
Picking her up gently, he hobbled over to the bed and lay her down. He picked up a cloth and once again began to wash away the blood, a tear running down his eye.

"It is...I lost another one...my body..." she broke into sobs and curled up on the bed. Her heart torn in two. She trembled, pain still coursing through her body. "Niko...our baby..." she turned her head into the pillow, mourning as her namesake had done. Her wail of sorrow was muffled, and she wished he could not hear. "Not your fault, Niko...not your fault either..."

Niko heard her sobs, and they made him feel worse. He finished washing away the blood and sat beside her, taking her in his arms.
''Do not blame yourself. We shall try again, and one day, love I promise you, we shall have a child. You will make an amazing mother''
He began to stroke her hair, hoping to stop her sobbing.
''Le Melon''

"Le..Le melon..." she sobbed more and clutched him. No matter what he had said, she knew it was her fault. "I love you..." she shuddered as he held her, the after pain wearing off.

He held her feeling sad. She blamed herself yet he did not agree. Both times this had happened, he had been subject to whatever mood it was that kept taking him. He was at a loss at what to do or say.
''What can I do?''

"Just be here with me..." she needed him to stay. She needed him more than ever. She slowly sat up and helped him lie down. "You need your rest. The pain was worse than ever this time." she pulled blankets up around him and brought the ale to his lips.

He drank the ale she offered him, then pulled her down to his side.
''I'm here,love''
Niko, for the moment, just wanted to stay there with her. Doing what she needed, being there for her. He couldn't believe he had lost control again. She needed him, as he needed her.

She needed to get things for him, to get up and tend him. But she couldn't find the strength to stand. She laid against him, suddenly determined. "It won't beat us." she clutched him closer, as if protecting him.

He lay back, his arm circling her body.
''It never could beat us''
Niko began to fall asleep, he clutched her tighter, as if scared he may lose her.
''Stay close to me, angel''

"I will, I promise." she held him close as he drifted off, she wasn't going anywhere. "Things will change, love." she whispered. Things would get better, she knew it. She turned her head and kissed his shoulder.

Niko slept and was untroubled by any unpleasant dreams. It may have been due to his sudden exposure to moods and two pain attacks in such a short span of time but he was grateful he slept soundly.
In his sleep he snuggled closer to Nienna, subconsciously needing her warmth.

She watched him, an was glad he didn't have any nightmares. She felt her eyes begin to close, Abd knew that sleep would take her soon. She held him tighter, afraid to fall asleep, she didn't want him to have another pain attack while she slept, so she forced her eyes to stay open, watching him the whole time he slept.
