Amara looked behind her and noticed that Legolas, Gimli and Colin were coming out of the stables. She smiled kindly to Colin, seeing the horse that he had managed to keep. "Good choice." She said softly to him and Legolas. She looked up to Legolas and smiled more lovingly before clicking her tongue to her horse, making the horse move forward a bit.
They had a long journey ahead of them.
After many hours of riding to Merry and Pippin, Amara slowed her horse down. She knew that it was probably getting tired and thirsty. She looked forward to Aragorn and Gandalf and whistled a bit to them. "I'm going to rest for a few moments." She said to them softly and then turned her horse off of the path, getting off slowly. She petted the panting horse's neck softly and then whispered something in its ear in Elvish, watching as it walked toward a stream of water on its own. She smiled a little and then slowly sat down on the ground, taking a deep breath.
She was starting to become very tired and couldn't wait until she could finally get a good night's sleep.

(Hey, let me know when we want to re-introduce Frodo, Sam, and Arabella into the storyline!)
The journey was long and tiring, but somehow the company and the conversation made it easier to bear. Legolas found himself laughing and chatting with the others, even trying to include Colin in the conversation as best he could. He really was growing rather fond of the child, it was a shame he seemed to be all alone in the world. He hoped they would be able to find him some sort of place when they returned to Edoras. He certainly couldn't stay on his own, nor could he take his place among the Rohirrim army, yet perhaps a place could be found in the house of the King--Lady Eowyn seemed to like him as well. He supposed he shouldn't worry about it at the moment, however. Now their sole focus was on navigating the thick forest of Fangorn and finding Merry and Pippin.
"The forest seems less hostile now," Legolas remarked as they stopped to take some rest. Indeed, the air seemed more relaxed, as if it almost accepted their presence. "The trees seem like they are more at peace."
Gandalf, seated atop Shadowfax, nodded. "Yes, for now, they are. They have been avenged, it seems. Come, my friends. We will not find Merry and Pippin under these boughs any longer. We ride to Isengard."

(I'm thinking of actually bringing them in on my next post after this! ) Listening to Legolas and Gandalf's conversation, Amara sighed and then slowly stood up onto her feet gracefully. She threw her long blond hair over her right shoulder and whistled for her horse to come back to her. She had enough rest for now. She looked up and saw Aragorn ride past her slowly. "Come Amara... We have a ways yet." He said softly. She nodded to him and bit her lower lip, before her horse came back. She mounted onto the saddle and held onto the reigns again. Looking over to Legolas tiredly, she smiled a bit weakly and then let her horse walk behind Shadowfax and Gandalf. He knew the way better than anyone in the group. Gandalf then lead them all through dark woodland. The moving forest of Fangorn was opening before them, creating an avenue of trees, which allowed them access along the old Isengard road. A thick, humid mist filled the forest. After a while more of searching and riding, the forest separated ahead, revealing the ruins of Isengard to them. All about, the Great Stone Wall is showed ahead; cracked and splintered into countless jagged shards. Far off, half veiled in the swirling steam, the Tower of Orthanc stands -- Unbroken by the storm. Pale waters lapping about its feet. Two small Hobbits, though, were sitting on the smashed wall. It was Merry and Pippin! A spread before them consisting of: breads, meats and wine. They puffed on their long pipes as they laid back in the sun. "I feel like I'm back at the Green Dragon, after a hard days work." Pippin said to Merry, contently. "Only, you've never done a hard days work." He responded back to his cousin. Merry then looked up and cut Pippin off before he ccould respond in kind. "Welcome, my Lords and Ladies, to Isengard." He exclaimed happily, standing up on the wall. Gandalf, Aragorn, Amara and Gimli all stared at the sight before them. And what a sight it was indeed. "You young rascals! A merry hunt you've led us on, and now we find you feasting and smoking!" Gimli yelled to the two Hobbits, a little envious of what they had in front of them. "We are sitting on a field of victory, enjoying a few well-earned comforts. The salted pork is particularly good." Pippin explained to Gimli, with his mouth completely full. Suddenly, Gimli seemed interested. "Salted pork?" He asked, raising an eyebrow and looking over the food with hunger in his eyes. Gandalf shook his head to the conversation they were all having. "Hobbits!" He exclaimed. Merry looked toward Gandalf and nodded his head once. "We're under orders from Treebeard, who's taken over management of Isengard." He spoke with a matter-of-fact tone in his voice. Gandalf lead the company through the flotsam and jetsam, which floated upon the muddied waters surrounding the tower. Treebeard, the giant Ent, strode toward them, alarming all but Gandalf. Amara stared up at the large tree with wide eyes. She had never seen anything like it before. "Huraroom... Young Master Gandalf, I'm glad you've come. Wood and water, stock and stone, I can master, but there's a wizard to be managed here -- Locked in his tower." Treebeard said to Gandalf softly, pointing to the tower behind them. Gandalf nodded and smiled a little to his Ent friend. "And there Saruman must remain, under your guard, Treebeard." He spoke gently. "Let's just have his head and be done with it." Gimli spoke out in hatred. Gandalf stared up at the long length of the Dark Tower silently for a moment. Gandalf then shook his head and spoke silently to the Fellowship, "No. He has no power any more." The old Ent nodded his head wisely, to Gandalf's words. "The filth of Saruman is washing away. Trees will come back to live here, young trees... wild trees." He spoke slowly. Pippin, who was sitting behind Amara on her horse, looked over; his eye caught by something lying in the water. The muddy waters were glowing with a golden light. Amara turned and, as quick as a flash, Pippin had jumped off the horse and picked up -- the Palantir! Amara's eyes stared at the dark orb, fixated on it slightly. The feeling of darkness that it gave off was the same feeling she got when Sauron haunted her dreams. She shuddered a bit and looked down quickly. "Well bless my bark!" Treebeard hummed, looking down at the Palantir, as well. "Peregrin Took! I'll take that, my lad!" Gandalf said urgently. Pippin didn't move from his spot, even though he had heard Gandalf as clear as day. His eyes had started to stare in wonder at the smooth black stone. "Quickly, now!" Gandalf yelled a bit, to snap Pippin out of it. Reluctantly, Pippin handed the Palantir over to Gandalf; Who immediately smothered it in his cloak. Amara helped Pippin back up onto her horse and took a deep breath. While, Gandalf looked back to Pippin with a troubled expression on his face.

Colin peeked out from behind his mare's head to gaze at the looming structure of Orthanc. He had never seen such huge things before in his entire life. A sudden thought reminded him that this was where the Uruk-hai came from. Those monsters. And just what did their master look like?
He looked over to Merry and Pippin. They seemed nice, but, well, he didn't know. Colin eased his mare forwards, trying to get closer so he could talk to them. It was worth a risk.

Legolas tried to push his worries about Saruman and the revelation of the Palantir aside as he saw Colin inching towards the two Hobbits. He hopped off his horse, landing gently in the murky water below. "I think some introductions are in order," he said pleasantly, walking over to Pippin and placing his hand on the Halfling's small shoulder. "Come on, Colin. No need to be shy." He smiled. "Colin, this is Meriadoc Brandybuck and Peregrin Took--Merry and Pippin, we call them. This is Colin."
Legolas smiled to Amara, who looked worried as she sat atop her horse. "Perhaps we could find someplace a little more...dry?" he said, gesturing to the flooded plains of Isengard. "We have a lot of catching up to do, and I'm sure we could all do with some of that salted pork you mentioned." Privately, Legolas also desired a proper talk with Treebeard. The Ent had been around far longer than he himself had, and he felt fascinated by the prospect of talking to a creature that had seen and experienced so much. But he supposed that could wait. "I expect Gandalf will want to set off again by morning, unless he has other business to attend to." He grinned at the Hobbits. "You are coming with us to Edoras. We have a victory to celebrate."

(Sorry for taking so long, guys! I'm going to skip to Edoras. ) Amara rode with the group of riders, galloping towards the Rohan city of Edoras. She was still completely exhausted, but she didn't show it. Looking down, she smiled at Pippin sitting in front of her with wide and curious eyes. She then looked ahead, waiting for them to reach their destination. Upon arrival, Amara looked up to see Eowyn standing alone outside the Golden Hall, waiting. Amara knew who she was waiting for. But, she wouldn't allow it to happen. Not while she was around. That night, inside of the Golden Hall, there was a roaring fire; with a lamb roasting on a spi. Long tables had been laden with food of all sorts -- Barrels of wine all over the room. A banquet was laid ready for the returning soldiers. Theoden stood in front of all of the company and raised his goblet. "Tonight we remember those who gave their blood to defend this country. Hail the victorious dead!" He yelled the last part. Amidst the cheering crowd, Eowyn moved toward Aragorn; As she offered the goblet to him, their eyes met. Amara stood off to the side, staring at the both of them. She shook her head and saw Aragorn move away from Eowyn, before King Theoden walked over to her. She sighed and then took a sip of wine that was in her goblet. She wasn't big on drinking, but she didn't want to appear rude. Crossing her arms across her chest while holding onto her goblet, she heard Merry and Pippin singing. Merry and Pippin were in full voice, on top of one of the tables; both held very large mugs of ale in their hands. Gandalf laughed and clapped as the two Hobbits finished their song. Aragorn stepped up beside him, smiling at the floor show.

Colin sat in a small chair, trying to block out all the raucous noise that men, drunk men and, well, everyone else were making. His crutches were leaning against the table, and Colin was desperately that some person wouldn't knock them over. Again. He laced his fingers around the mug in front of him, looking deep into it's watery depths. Amara, Legolas and the rest were off talking to other people, and Merry and Pippin were currently dancing on top of a table. Colin's lips parted in a small smile as he peeked behind him to see the hobbits kicking their feet up and singing loud enough that surely Saruman could hear them. He wished that he could jump over there and join them, but he couldn't. Colin looked across to his crutches, and then to his feet.
Maybe, just maybe. . . .he could try.
Colin took a deep breath and grabbed onto the edge of the table, supporting his weight. He shakily stood up, his legs wobbling as they were not used to this. He took a tentative step forward, still holding onto the table. Another step. He hadn't fallen yet, that was good. Just take deep breaths, that was the key. Don't think about falling, Colin. Don't think about that. He hadn't walked like this, since. . .since when? Colin took two more steps, and gingerly let go of the table. For a moment, for just a second, his legs were supporting his own weight! He was standing up! Colin looked around with bright green eyes, happy for that single time. He had done it. He was standing up, without a crutch! Or two! Colin had done it, finally!
And then his legs gave way and Colin fell crashing to the floor, not even attracting the attention of anyone around him.

(Absolutely, Dream! We've been planning on that for a while, I think. Since Amara is Frodo, though, I'll let her take the lead on it when she posts next. ) The Golden Hall was filled with laughter, merriment, and food and drink. If one did not know any better, they would not know of the sorrow that hung over the ceremony as a whole--they might believe that the people of Edoras were celebrating a marriage rather than a victory in battle. The people were all smiles and shouts and chatter as they feasted and drank. For the drink was indeed flowing freely that night, and everyone from the eldest men to the small boys who had been pressed into battle was taking part. Including Legolas, who had just been pressed into some sort of competition betwixt him and Gimli. "So...it's a drinking game?" he asked, after what little rules there were had been explained to him. Gimli grinned. "Last one standing wins," he said, sounding smug. Don't be too certain of yourself, my friend. All those around him began to drink, Gimli most enthusiastic of all. Legolas took a cautious sip of the ale in his mug, tasting it and realizing that in comparison to the wine of Mirkwood, this was nothing. He caught Amara's eyes and shrugged, as if to say, 'What can you do? Don't worry about me. I know what I'm doing.' Later, Gimli was ranting about dwarf women again and becoming more and more tipsy by the minute. The table was filled with empty mugs and Legolas was growing bored. Glancing at his friend again, he realized that he really had already won, but he didn't want the victory to be that easy. At the very least, Gimli should believe that he might win--at least before he passed out. "I feel something," Legolas remarked, his voice soft as he looked down at his hand. "A slight tingling in my fingers. I think it's affecting me." "What'd I tell ya?" Gimli slurred. "'Ee can't 'old 'is liquor..." As he spoke, his speech slowed down and his eyes crossed, and suddenly he keeled over, landing hard on the stone floor below. "Game over," Legolas said with a smirk, before leaving to rejoin Amara. "Dwarves," he said with a roll of his eyes, placing his arm around her waist. He looked on as Merry and Pippin, atop a table, began to sing. "Are you enjoying yourself?"

(YAY FOR ARABELLA, FRODO AND SAM BEING BACK IN THE RPG! Hurrah! <3 ) A grim landscape, covered in thorn bushes and the scars of recent fires surrounded Frodo, Arabella, Sam and Gollum. The dark Morgul Valley disappeared up towards the mountains. Frodo and Sam were resting in a filthy culvert alongside Arabella. Sam twitched in a restless sleep. But Frodo was awake. His hand trailed down to the chain that was still around his dirty neck. It had been an extremely long journey for all of them and Frodo was so glad that it was almost over. He didn't know what he would've done without Arabella and Sam at his side. A sudden hiss then appeared, which made Frodo quickly hide the Ring; as Gollum peered at them with gleaming yet sinister eyes. "Wake up! Wake up! Wake up, sleepies! We must go, yes, we must go at once!" Gollum said a bit loud, so that he would wake up all three of the Hobbits before him. Sam stirred in his sleep and looked over to Frodo and Arabella, but mainly focusing on Frodo's sleep deprived eyes. "Haven't you had any sleep, Mr. Frodo?" He asked his best friend, worried. Frodo shook his head to Sam's question; not fully answering. "I've gone and had too much!" He exclaimed, in an upset tone of voice. San looked at the dead, brown twilight below the lowering cloud. "It must be getting late." Sam added and made a small face at the thought. "No... No it isn't. It isn't midday yet. The days are growing darker." Frodo replied softly to Sam and then looked over to Arabella, taking a deep breath. He slowly reached for her hand and held onto it for a few moments, with a tired smile. Suddenly, the ground quivered beneath them, as a rolling, rumbling noise echoed down the valley. "Come on, must go, no time..." Gollum said softly to the three of them, looking around a bit anxiously. "Not before Mr. Frodo and Arabella have had something to eat." Sam spat a bit to Gollum and sat up in his spot, grabbing his bag. Gollum just shook his head to Sam and watched him. "No time to lose, silly." He said simply. Sam shot Gollum a hostile look and turned back to rummage in his knapsack. He held up a piece of dried lembas bread to Frodo and Arabella. "Here. Split it." Sam spoke softly to the both of them. Frodo looked at the piece of bread and then back up to Sam. "What about you?" He asked his best friend softly. Sam smiled a bit and shook his head. "I'm not hungry - leastways, not for lembas bread." He answered back to Frodo's question, lying badly. Frodo narrowed his eyes to Sam. He knew his best friend. "Sam." He said softly, after taking the piece of bread from his friend's hand. "Alright. We don't have that much left." Sam confessed. "We have to be careful or we're going to run out. You go ahead and eat that, Mr. Frodo and Arabella. I've rationed it. There should be enough." He added and looked over the both of them. Frodo looked at Sam questioningly. "For what?" He asked. "The journey home." Sam gave the answer that everyone hoped to hear, but knew it wouldn't happen anytime soon. Frodo said nothing to Sam. . After a bit of time passed, Frodo, Arabella and Sam followed Gollum as he lead them on the wining, torturous path, clambering through bracken and over jagged rock. "Come, Hobbitses. Very close now. Very close to Mordor! No safe places here. Hurry! Shhh." Gollum said to all of them. --------------- Amara smiled widely while listening to Merry and Pippin sing to everyone. She knew that they were as drunk as could be, but it just made things even funnier for others to watch. She then slowly felt an arm wrap around her waist and looked up, seeing Legolas there. She smiled lovingly to him and then slowly sat down her wine glass on the table. "I am... I'm just worried for the Hobbits. Especially Frodo and Arabella. I hope that they're alright." She said softly and turned her full attention on Legolas. She looked up into his bright blue eyes and sighed deeply, standing in front of him. "I wish that I would've gone with them. That I could've saved Boromir from his fate. That... Merry and Pippin had never been taken. I had a chance. And I didn't take it. What does that say about me, my love?" She asked him a bit sadly, beating herself up over what had occurred in the past few months to them all. --------------- Aragorn stayed beside Gandalf, while watching Merry and Pippin ahead of them. He kept a smile on his face and then spoke softly to Gandalf. "No news of Frodo?" Gandalf heard the question and then sighed a bit, shaking his head. "No word... Nothing." He replied solemnly. "We still have time." Aragorn spoke, reassuring his friend as best as he could. Gandalf then turned quickly to face Aragorn. "Every day Frodo moves closer to Mordor." Aragorn continued. Gandalf watched his friend's face, seeking reassurance. "Do we know that?" Gandalf asked, a bit nervously. "What does your heart tell you?" Aragorn asked his friend gently and with a small smile, Gandalf replied, "That Frodo is alive." He spoke to Aragorn and then nodded, looking ahead again while keeping the smile on his lips. "Yes - yes, he is alive." He added, speaking more to himself this time.

(YAY! ) Arabella rarely slept well anymore. Her nights were spent alternating between taking the watch, fighting against sleep before it was her turn, and tossing and turning, trying to block out the worries and the uncertainties and the nightmares. So many nightmares. Her friends, being tortured and killed before her eyes; Gollum suddenly turning on them in the night; and above everything else, the Eye of Sauron. He hissed at her in the darkness, his threats coming into her already troubled thoughts while she slept. "I destroyed your family...you are next, Arabella, daughter of Keladry. You are next."So she was almost glad when she was awakened that morning, in spite the fact that she felt so weary that at times she wondered if she would even be able to take another step. Every so often, she would stop and perform some healing spells--giving the Hobbits more strength to get from one day to the next, healing their battered feet, for despite the thickness of the soles of a Hobbits' feet, the harsh country in which they now found themselves had made them become bloodied and bruised. But these efforts, noble as they were, left her feeling more drained than ever. Still, for the sake of Frodo and Sam, she struggled onwards, putting on a smile to hide the pain and trying her best to lift their spirits. She still told stories and sang songs some evenings when they felt particularly troubled. And now, as Sam offered the two of them a piece of lembas bread to share, Arabella shook her head, the ghost of a smile gracing her features. "I'm not hungry either." It was a lie, of course, and almost as soon as she had spoken her stomach betrayed her, growling so loudly she winced. They were all hungry now--Arabella could feel every outline of her ribs now when she pressed her hands to her sides. She accepted the lembas bread with a grateful smile. "You know," she said with her mouth full, "I've never seen the Shire. I can't wait for the two of you to show it to me once we return." She brought one hand up to grasp her teardrop-necklace, once again seeking comfort from the gem that had been her mother's. Please, keep us safe...let there be a return journey. All day as they walked, Arabella hummed a little melody to herself, the tune staying in her mind mile after mile. It was only after they stopped to rest that she recognized it for what it was--a melody that her mother had once sung her. A wave of emotion came over her and silent tears began to stream down her face, and she rested her head on Frodo's shoulder as she cried. "I...I want to go home," she whispered. "Only...I have no home to go to." (Sorry for how emo that was...I'm apparently more homesick than I realized. ) ------------- Legolas smiled sadly as Amara spoke. How could he tell her what was truly on his mind--that in his own selfish way, he was glad that she had not gone with the Hobbits, that she had been able to stay by his side instead? What would she think if she learned the truth? "You place too much doubt on yourself, my love," he said softly. "You are the most selfless, caring person I know. Arabella will be so proud of you, when she learns of all that you have done. Try not to dwell on the past tonight. We cannot change it, no matter how much we might like to. So remember the past, but do not let it consume you completely. Live in this moment. Live for today." He didn't add, Because it might all be gone tomorrow. He took hold of her hand with a sigh, bringing it to his lips and kissing it. "Come, let's go outside. I grow uneasy in here with so many people...we can return later if you wish."

Frodo walked tiredly behind Sam and Gollum, while staying behind with Arabella. He wasn't going to leave her side and he knew that she would do the same for him. She had done so thus far. He had definitely fallen in love with her over the time that he had come to know her. He swallowed hard at her crying and then wrapped his arms around her, as comfortingly as he could. He knew that they were resting for a few moments, but he was so exhausted. No rest, a little food, constant pain in his shoulder from where he was stabbed... It was getting to be too much for him. Especially with the burden of the Ring. It was like a weight on his shoulders.
Taking a shaky breath, he looked down to Arabella and kissed the top of her head. "You can come home with Sam and me... To the Shire. You would love it there. There's rolling green hills, lots of ponds and lakes, and all the food and drink your heart desires." He said to her with a small smile on his face, remembering his dear old home. He missed it immensely and was hoping that he was raising Arabella's spirits. "That is... If you would like to come back with us. With me." He added softly, looking down into her eyes. He let his thumb wipe her tears away gently and kept a small smile on his face.
---------------
Amara took a deep breath, as she listened to all that Legolas was saying to her. She swallowed hard and nodded in agreement with what he had said. He was always right, it seemed. She took hold of his hand and then bit her lower lip for a few moments, before letting it go. "You're right... Live in the moment." She said softly, almost to herself.
She really had to give herself a pep talk sometimes.
Shaking her head at what Legolas spoke to her, she looked up to him and smiled a little. "No, let's leave. I'm feeling a little claustrophobic." She said gently and then walked with him outside of the hall. She made it outside and then inhaled the fresh air deeply, slowly closing her eyes for a few moments.
She wrapped her arms around herself and just enjoyed the light breeze that caressed her skin and went through her long blonde hair. "I wish I knew what home was like. I don't understand why I don't remember. But... Mirkwood shall be my new home. One that I will cherish all my life." She said softly to Legolas and then opened her eyes slowly, looking to him lovingly.

She closed her eyes, trying to picture the Shire as Frodo described it to her. His voice sounded so wistful, and she was suddenly struck with the realization that he missed his home more than she had ever realized before. Neither he nor Sam spoke about it much, perhaps for her sake. She, who had not known a home since she was a small child...what would she know of such an idyllic place as the Shire?
Arabella pulled away from Frodo enough so that she could look up into his face, her eyes widening as she heard him ask her to come back to the Shire with them. Would she be welcomed there? She was a Hobbit, yes...but with powers that few of them could imagine. And yet...if she was with Frodo, would this matter? Was that what he was asking...if she would stay with him?
If she would...marry him?
"I..." she whispered, for once in her life having trouble finding her voice. She, who rarely ever stopped speaking her mind, was speechless! Oh, what Pippin and Merry would say if they could see me now...
"I would love to. With all my heart."
---------
Dusk was falling across the Riddermark as Amara and Legolas made their way outside the Golden Hall. The air was crisp and cool and here and there fireflies danced in the twilight. It was so peaceful, it was hard to believe that only days ago men were fighting and dying to keep this country--and all of Middle-Earth--safe. It was blissfully quiet.
Almost too quiet.
"The party is bound to be winding down soon..." he murmured, more for his own sake than Amara's. He listened as she spoke of home, both her old one, so distant now, and the one she would have with him in Mirkwood. He glanced over at her thoughtfully. "Do you remember it at all?" he asked. "Not even small things? I know Arabella remembers her mother...at least, she talked of her in her sleep often. And Lady Galadriel showed her the vision of her mother in the mirror as well. But your friend's circumstances are different than yours...her entire family killed like that. Perhaps that's why she remembers, because it was so traumatic. Have you no memories of your past?" His words became faster as an uneasy feeling came over him...as if they were being watched.

Amara listened to what Legolas said about Arabella's past and family and took a deep breath. "I know nothing about my past or my family. The only thing I remember is being with Arabella. She's been with me from day one. Everything else is just a blur." She said softly and then looked out to the horizon, focusing her eyes on the sun slowly setting.
She then felt something. Something strange. As if someone were watching the both of them at that moment. She quickly looked back to Legolas and then swallowed hard, looking over his face. "Do you sense it too?" She asked him in barely a whisper.
What was this feeling she had?

Frodo heard Arabella's reply to what he had asked her and then gave her his signature smile. It had been the smile that he had lost for months... And she was able to bring it back again. Even if only for a short while. He knew that she was the one that he would be spending the rest of his long life with. Arabella was the one.
He slowly wrapped his arms around her body and brought her close to him, while still looking deeply into her eyes. "Arabella... I love you..." He said to her softly, feeling his heart beating fast beneath his chest. He swallowed hard and nibbled on his lower lip, still smiling to her.
