Dax' eyes lighted. Time machine! She could change everything...
"But how about paradox?" she asked. "Let's say we are going to change history. And history is changed. If history is changed, time machine isn't needed and we aren't in need to back in time. So we are not appear to change history."

Geoff shook his head. "I thought about that, but Aperture made the machine way before the Resonance cascade that opened the super portal, so the machine would still be there, and at the best we'll have to explain to some security guards why we're in a restricted area, and at the worst we'll spend a little jail time." Geoff pantomimed wheighing the options. "Any other history that gets changed will surely be for the better."

Damion looked at Geoff, and asked him "Have you taken into account the Butterfly Affect? Because, with that in mind, we could end up going back, and somehow just making things worse. I know that it is hard to see how things could get any worse, but we need to keep in mind that it always could be. I was thinking that we where going to find a weapon, but in my wildest dreams I would have never thought that you would want to try using some form of time travel, and once our time runs out, won't we be snatched back to the present, sp then what would happen to use during those years between the two times. It's just a lot to think about."

"I understand that." Geoff nodded. "But we also have to take into account that all temporal mechanics and physics are theoretical. We could use this machine and it's sends us back but we won't be able to interact with anything, like a Ghost of Christmas Past type deal. All I know is, this is our best shot to take out the Combine in one fell swoop. No one weapon we could locate or create is enough to stop the Combine. I've weighed all the options, and this seemed the plan with the most chance of success."
