I like the fact that they take the time to flesh out the bond between Merry and Eowyn in the LotR movies, especially RotK. It seems like they would be very different characters, but they both have the same type of courage it takes to do "their bit" even though not much is expected of them. What do you think?

Anything that gets more Merry character depth is always fabulous with me. But I agree, it's nice that they show their commonalities, since there are many things about them that are so different. Eowyn wants glory and death in battle, Merry wants to help his friends any way possible...but they are both willing to do everything possible to achieve it.

I think the biggest thing they have in common is that they are both unlikely to be a warrior; Merry because of his size, Eowyn because she's female. Yet they both choose to come to the aid of those who are in need of their help and they find eachother in their quest.

And it is indeed very nice to see some more of their relationship, especially in one of the EE scenes from ROTK, situated on the day/evening before they arrive at Minas Tirith. That moment really showed how much respect they have for eachother and I liked the way Merry treats Eowyn as a real lady :)

The main difference between them is that Eowyn wants to be a warrior and goes for that and Merry does it for duty, he wants to help others. But they show the courage in the bottle, both, even if they have different opinions about war :)

There's a definite contrast you see between the two.
Eowyn is highly trained in battle, but never gets to implement her skills in the way that that she REALLY REALLY wants to.
Merry on the other hand has zero experience in battle and didn't really want to before this, but he just wants to help his friends even if it means going into battle for them.

I think Eowyn really learns a lot from Merry. Much what Thorin learned from Bilbo, "If more of us valued food and cheer above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world." Except instead of cheer, it's friends and instead of gold it's glory.

However, I think I would rather have them flesh out the bond between Eowyn and Faramir than her and Merry.

where can I watch India vs Pakistan t20 world cup Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf are back in the lineup, and the Pakistani Young Guns are prepared to strike once more. On the other hand, India's batting lineup, which includes Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and countless others, is world-class.

Etymologyedit. "Mount Doom" is the Common Speech translation of Amon Amarth in Gondor, from amon ("hill") and amarth ("fate, doom"). The name was given because the volcano was linked in ancient and little-understood prophecies with the final end of the Third Age, when the One Ring was found again.
