I just want to hear your opinions on this song. I, personally, think it is the very essence of who and what Smeagol has become. What do you guys think?

I agree! It's really sad, but so is Gollum's life. You can't help but feel sorry for him after listening to this song. Emiliana does a great job singing it.

Although this is not one of my favorite LotR songs, I also think that it gives real insight into the Gollum/Smeagol character. It perfectly captures the sense of betrayal he feels because everyone keeps pushing him away. I also think that the lines "you are lost / you can never go home" can in some ways be applied to Frodo after the quest.

Definitely one of the most hartbreaking songs from the soundtrack. I love the lyrics nad tune and I love listening it while lying on the bed and looking in the window. It gives me chills as any song from LotR!

I say the same as the posts above. It is a really beautiful song, and sad at the same time. In some way it describes another side of Gollum/Smeagol than the one we get to see in the movies. At least for me it does. In the movies I see much of is betrayal to Frodo and Sam (taking Frodo to Shelob and so on...), and even though it is clear that he is not... happy, the song gives a greater insight of how he really feels towards himself and about his own life. At least that is what I think. I haven't read through TTT yet so I'm not sure what picture you get of him there.

Also, seen from the aspect of an "amateur musician" (or whatever I'm suppost to call myself... x) ), the song really differ from others with all the changes in harmony and key. It really gives the song its own soul, in a way.

It definitely reflects Gollum/Smeagol's transformation. It somewhat breaks my heart whenever I hear it, to think that someone or thing would have to go through that.

This is one of my favorite songs in the LotR soundtrack. Towards the beginning the lyrics depict the pity, the sorrow, and the pain of Smeagol, yet at the end it describes the lies, and how twisted and truly destroyed he is as Gollum. That it's too late now; he's gone too far to be pitied. These tears you cry have come too late.... And the singer's voice, (I can never spell her name right) is full of such emotion and pain. It sounds twisted, sad, eerie, full of pity...... She sings it perfectly. She has such a unique voice, and it's such a unique song. It is, in my opinion, and perfect depiction of Gollum. I want to cry every time I hear it.

This song has power on a completely different level. It's just so strong and deep, and really does reflect well on who and what Gollum is.

I love Gollum Song! It's so sad and heartbreaking but hides true beauty inside. I remember I was torn by this song when I listened it in the movie.

Which movie is it in? I"ve never heard it in the movie, but I play it on piano, and it's simply gorgeous. Is it in an extended edition? I've got TTT extended, but that's it.
