Am i the only one who noticed that Legolas' eyecolor changes throughout the trilogy?

I also noticed it. I guess Orlando has just forgotten to wear his contact lenses.

The default colour would be grey eyes... based on what we know, that Thranduil, at least, was a Sinda, and therefore an Elda -- and the Eldar in general were said to be dark haired and grey-eyed [Appendix F], outside of the house of Finarfin.

Although Thranduil does not fall into the default colour for hair, it must be added. But again, when one doesn't know, to my mind the 'best guess' is the 'usual' as noted.

^She is okay.
How are you supposed to pronounce it though? Mr. Tolkien made it clear that you pronounce the vowels "au" as in sour, not sore. But.. somehow I feel like "taur" should be pronounced as "tore". And I'm also wondering how Tauriel will be pronounced in TH:DOS. Am I making myself confuzzled?

I think you are correct Aralas... it seems -au- should be as in Sauron in the films, for example, which name I believe they [the films] usually get right.

Unless the Silvan dialect alters the sound? The only dialectal variant I can think of at the moment is -ae- to -e- considering that the true Sindarin name Laegolas is pronounced Legolas in the Silvan dialect.

@ aralas: I think Tauriel with the au like in "loud" or "sour" sounds better. Maybe it's because in German (which is my native tongue) you pronounce it like in sour, too but I believe to have read it several times in the internet, too.

^I see! I'm guilty of pronouncing Tauriel with tore several times.

Not exactly easier, but that's what you end up with more for me. Especially if you say her name without thinking.

I'm glad I don't stink at pronunciation!
Short vowels are really easy.
