Hi everyone! I'm Jade and I'm new! I was raised in a LOTR loving family and finally got around to reading ALL the books two years ago. I desperately need Peter Jackson to direct a tv series on the Silmirilien. I'm hoping to learn Elvish this year. Not sure what else to say... I can't wait to meet you all!

Aiya! Welcome to the site! I'm Turefinwe Narusse Talinte, daughter of Feanor, warrior-princess of the Noldor and lady of Himring, but you can call me Turien.
Which one do you want to learn? Sindarin or Quenya? Polin quete i lambe eldalieva. (I speak Quenya)
And about Peter Jackson making the Silm... I'm not entirely sure about that. If he does, Tolkien Estate had better make sure he does it RIGHT!
Anyway, before I go into a rant about his ruining the Hobbit...
Hi!

Welcome aboard! I'm not sure if PJ will ever get the rights to filming the Silmarillion (only time will tell), but if he does, I think it would make a better TV series than a movie, and for the record, he did not ruin the Hobbit. But since I'm no book purist (I would miss out on a lot of good movies and TV series if I was like that, since practically everything I like is based on a book), I don't mind the changes, never did. If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to ask, and see you around the boards.

Don't get me wrong, the Hobbit is an awesome movie. It's just not an awesome adaptation. I respect and love it as the movie itself, but as far as Canon goes, it's not exactly straight. Believe me, though, even though it's not like the book in quite a few points, it's still on the list of my favorite movies. Besides, who wouldn't love Benedict Cumberbatch? XD

Amatúlië Jade! I am glad to see another new member to A-U! How lucky you are to have been raised in a family who always loved LOTR. I was fifteen when my family finally heard about it and saw the 1st movie. We have loved it ever since! If you have any ideas for reviving A-U and getting new members to the forum please feel free to share them with us in the revival section! <3 I have been wanting to take up elvish too. I tried learning it years ago, and I want to try again. It's just so lovely I can't help but want to get back to it! ^^ @ TurefinweNarusse: You speak Quenya! ;o No way! Teach me please! ;O

There's a free Quenya language course that's downloadable. It's a clean, safe dowload, so you don't have to worry about adware and stuff. http://folk.uib.no/hnohf/qcourse.htmThat's what I used.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! @TurefinweNarusse I still haven't decided but I will check out the Quenya course you linked. I think Peter Jackson did a good job on the movies (considering how critical we fans are). But the desolation of Smaug could have been better. As for the Silmarillion (I just realized I wrote it wrong in my post, apologies) I hope PJ gets the rights to it and makes it a TV series. It could start with being just the Children of Hurin and then if it goes well make the next season Beren and Luthien or something like that...

@ElfQueen: I dunno, I'm still skeptical about a Silmarillion movie. It would be a much bigger undertaking than LotR. But there is plenty of room for adding things in. If the main events happen the way they were in the book, then, sure, I'd love to see it. ...Of course, they'd better get the right actors to play the Finwions... if they make Russandol anything but a redhead I won't be too happy. And if it does become a TV series, I was thinking they should do it in chronological order. You know, it'd kinda be odd to jump around so much. A TV series would be preferable to a movie, though, to get everything in. Besides, if they started with Children of Hurin, then did Beren and Luthien, it wouldn't be right, since CoH happens after... Sorry, excuse my ranting.

I know it would make more sense to do it in order. I meant they should do it one part at the time. I suggested the children of Hurin first because it seems to be quite popular. However you could have it going back and forth in time as well where the main story could be Beren and Luthien but you would get flashbacks of how the silmirils were built and whatnot. That ways in the end you would have the whole story
