It's probably a bit early to make any statements on release dates as I'm sure they are still working out the details and assembling a team.

I am too, but still cautious... Cautiously optimistic, I guess. At this point, I'm just trying not to think about it too much. As Hanasian's answer pretty much tells why.

I hate getting too hyped up over something and then having to wait forever.... on the opposite hand I would dread having to worry about how they are going to screw it up for an indefinite amount of time.

Well, I guess there is a chance they might run it but I really don't think they will. How could they spend so much and afford to?

But I think, why would anyone spend so much for the rights... and then not do it?

I wonder what Amazon clears in profits... in just one week :swoon:

Who wants to bet they're pitching it to PJ right now?

If they go that route, you will hear me scream like Frodo when Gandalf fell fighting the Balrog. >:(

:laughbounce:

Yes, PJ rather ruined his Tolkien cred with the Hobbit. Still, I'd bet they'd covet the name/brand recognition among casual fans. But like I said before, I'd really rather see someone else's interpretation of Middle-earth.

Anyway once they pick someone there's probably weeks of negotiation and complicated contracts drawn up a lawyer's offices... all in secret so public opinion doesn't give someone an edge. Then they've got to write the thing and cast it and film it... it'll take years. But hey, we all thought the Hobbit was taking forever!

Well, at least we can sit and wonder in uncertainty for the time being.... :P lol

I'll have to check in from time to time on it I guess. Just don't want to build too much anticipation or dread.... Either way. I like keeping myself in the dark until I can see it with my own two eyes.

I don’t follow the news much these days (no reason to do so), so has anyone mentioned when the ETA of the first episode is?

...so no.

We (unfortunately) live in a “Wall Street” world to a degree. What were once months are now days etc. Are you telling me that the warp-speed set (warp[ed] – what a fitting description for those up to three pounds of protein to be found between their ears :-P ) is being decelerated to a snail’s pace by their otherwise firm allies in organized crime (the most destructive on the planet today, making mafias and terrorist groups look like chicken droppings), the lawyers? No obscene profits to be reaped in the year 2017 anymore? I am confused … :confused2:

I'm scared for this to happen. It could be awesome or it could be awful. I'm going to wait till a credible source (like you guys) says it's good. I don't want to get more upset over crappy Tolkien adaptations than I have to.
