[quote="Laivindur of Hollin"]When all else fails, Google it.

So true.

I think it may have originated from the movies, as Laivindur of Hollin said. I'm open to any more theories/ideas.

well thats about the best i can put my toughts into words but uuuuummmmmmmmmmm...............let me try again..............................ummm...............
ummm...... Gandalfs hat isnt strait and pointy right its sorta slumped to the side. Then maybe he waves his hand over it and it becomes strait. Then he waves his hand again and it slumps over again? Thats about as good as i can describe. Hope it helps!

So I was reading the Secret Diaries for LotR, and it seems that the Hat

is somthing to be afraid of:"Did not correct Gandalf, as am afraid of pointy hat."Merry. "Glorfindel so horrified by pointy hat trick he would not stop sobbing spasmodically until was calmed by liberal application of hobbit weed."

Sommthing to amuse people with: "He should talk -- he's the one who attracted a crowd this afternoon with that pointy hat"

And, somthing. "and Gandalf still breaking in new pointy hat"

Somthing people liked: "Was sad to see pointy hat go."
Yeah, take it any way you want.

They're all over. I do know that an MSN group, Lothlorien of the Elves, has them. I think the A-U main site has a link in the Humor section though.

Or you could Google it. Or Ask Jeeves it. Or MSN it.. or Yahoo it. Whatever.

Is it just me or does Lothlorien of the Elves sound backwards????

I'm starting to think Gandalf's pointy hat trick was made up for the SD

BIP is Boromir's Imaginary Phone.

That's the purpose of this thread, to find out what it is.

I found something in one of the parodies how Gandalf says to Bilbo "Do not take me for a conjurer of cheap tricks!" and then pools a rabbit out of his pointy hat. Don't know if it has anything to do with BIP, but maybe the author is the same.
