I really do think it's Regulus too but I think in an interview JK Rowling shot the theory down.

Nuh-uh I don't think so. It's still a lively theory.
On the HP lexicon they put up the middle name of Regulus Black, which started with an A and confirmed that he was R.A.B. It was from a "reliable source". I know that the Lexicon is a very reliable site that wouldn't post a rumour. The next day[or something] it was taken down, we don't know why but Melissa from The Leaky Cauldron does but she couldn't tell. Another pottercaster figured they were asked to take it down because they weren't supposed to know.
Of course, it's spectulation but I think it is in fact Regulus.

But -- really! In the interview post-HBP release, it was posted on mugglenet I think and she basically shot the theory down!

Well, I don't how her rumors page works --- most of those rumors are just out right ridiculous ones --- she could be saving it so twist and turn it a bit in the next book.

Well Melissa and Emerson was the only one she gave after HBP as far as I know. Excluding that one that came out recently, not that they actually talked about the HBP.
