Hm, Far-Less is a good local band that we have here. They are gettinga bit big though. They play sort of alternative rock.

you GOTTA listen to a band called Mew. They're danish but live in London. If u like good melodies and a little weird lead vocal and lots of guitar and drums, you'll like them!

Two fairly unknown bands from Germany are: Xandria and Leaves' Eyes. My Windows Media Player here says it's gothic, so I suppose it's that.. usually I don't like putting artists into categories, but, meh, just to give you an idea of what kind of music they make ;).

They both have a new CD this year, and they're a lot better than their previous CD's, but that's my opinion. Well, I hope you'll consider listening to them, because I believe they deserve it.

Most of you probably don˙t know Vangelis - I think it's actually a band but I'm not kinda sure ... They (I assume it's they :-D) play something like classy music, very good stuff for films and the songs are calm and great! Gotta love them ^^

I've heard of Leaves' Eyes! I have two songs by them on my playlist :) In fact, I was going to mention them on this thread, but you beat me to it...

I've heard of Vangelis too. I love the Chariots of Fire theme :)

*looks at music folder for rare stuff*

Advanced Potion-Making - composed a rock version of Hedwig's Theme from Harry Potter

Anna Nalick - her single "Breathe (2AM)" is famous, but the rest of the songs on her album (especially "Wreck of the Day") are quite good

David Hodges - former member of Evanescence; has branched out by self, great voice

E.S. Posthumus - probably the weirdest stuff I have on my playlist; they compose music for movie trailers

Jon Schmidt - most amazing pianist I've ever heard!

And you guys have all heard of Nightwish and Within Temptation...although no one I know offline knows about them...

Mostly Autumn are a fantastic, but really unknown band. They play folk rock with really beautiful female vocals. Only got one album but it's all about nature, there's even a song about Helm's Deep.
Look them up

I was checking yesterday through Last.fm some bands and I came across this one.Their name is Arwen and their sound is power metal(I'm not a music expert so please don't kill me if I'm wrong).I just listened to one song and I liked how they sounded.
