The scene outside Moria was the saddest scene... where everyone was crying for Gandalf... Merry and Pippin were crying, Sam was crying, Frodo was crying, Gimli was devastated, legolas... oh Legolas was sooo confused and sad!!! Poor Legolas... he never dealt with the concept of death before. Boromir was phased... very phased. and Aragorn was, well, Aragorn. Strong on the outside, shattered on the inside. Anyone want to discuss any of the character's reactions?

Hi!
Yeah Legolas was very confused, he was wordless and didn't even cry, for he was very devastated. He's an elf so he didn't really know what death really meant... poor Legolas... Orlando Bloom acted that scene very well, he was looking very confused etc.

This scene also is the saddest scene for me. When I first saw FotR I couldn't believe that Gandalf was gone. And I think that it was shown very well how the different characters show their grief and how they react differently to express their grief

I first watched this movie before I read all the books of Tolkien, and I was totally confused when Gandalf died. I couldn't believe it! But, I don't really know why, I was shocked, but I didn't cry, but I cried when Boromir died.

any death from LotR was sad, unless it was a death from the dark side ... Gandalf's was heartbreaking because then you're thinking, who's going to help frodo now? nd frodo loved gandalf so much, too.....

*sigh* This scene and Boromir's death are the saddest parts in the movie. When Frodo wanders off and Aragorn is calling after him, when Frodo turns around he's face is....dramatic. I think I started tearing/crying at that part....Even though I've read the book and knew Gandalf would return, it was such a tragic part.

The scene outside Moria is so sad... One of the best parts of FotR in my opinion. They are all devastated, but their reactions are so different.

I love how Frodo can just stand there, with those big blue eyes all teary, and cry just a few tears. It makes me teary-eyed just watching him. And then the hobbits all holding each other and crying just gets me every time too.
The look that kills me the most though is Legolas'. As many of you have said, he has never known death before, never seen anyone die, and he's confused at this newfound emotion. So, his face shows a mixture of confusion, and sadness.
