When my parents had my little bro and I listen to the BBC tapes, I thought Aragorn was Gandalf's son! >.<

I remember being particularly terrified that the "blonde guy" as I called him, would get killed.
I also thought that Gandalf riding off on the eagle was a symbolic death of some sort since Saruman said "so you have chosen death." I was under the impression that he had jumped off the building and the director was trying to spare the audience a graphic scene or something.
Gosh I was dumb back then.

I also watched the first movie without reading the books so I kept bugging my cousin about various things! LOL.
Luiniel were we both worried about the same guy?
I was terrified Leggy would get killed off after movie 1 or simething. My cousin was like:-no no, he doesn't die."

When I first saw FotR I thought Galadriel was the Lady of the Lake from King Arthur stories and it got me really confused. I couldn't figure out who Galadriel was for the longest time. I also HATED Gollum's guts for a really long time and I've only just started appreciating him.

One of the funniest memories I have was when I saw TTT the first time (it was the first LotR movie I saw), and I kept asking my Dad if Gollum was evil or good. I totally didn't get his character at all... Anyway, my dad was getting annoyed, so he says in the calm, wise, father voice: "He's just misunderstood." I then proceeded to tell this to a friend who was obsessed with LotR at the time. She laughed her head off about Gollum being "misunderstood." Now it's a big joke between us, and everytime I hear the term "misunderstood" I think of Gollum.

I drank a whole large cup of coka when I watched lotr at the cimema so from pretty much when frodo got stung by shelob all I could think was 'need to pee neeed to pee neeed to pee need to peeeeee"
Also, when I went there were tons of people that were obsessed with it there, they were all dressed up for it and everything. I though "Oh god this movie is totally going to suck, look at all the freaks here to see it"
^_^

A couple more I thought of-
In FOTR when Gandalf jumps off Isenguard onto the eagle and Saruman says, "So you have chosen your own destruction." I thought Saruman hadn't seen the eagle and thought Gandalf had just jumped. lol
In TTT, when Gandalf saves Theoden from Saruman's poisoning his mind, I was mixed up until the last time I watched it a couple of months ago. Theoden says, "Rohan is mine." Gandalf says "Be gone!" we see Saruman sliding across the floor of Orthanc. I thought that he, or like a "demon" of him was falling on the floor of the hall. I didn't notice that the floor was totally different, or anything! Then I finally noticed it and couldn't believe how dense I had been. lol

Haha, exactly the same for me!!
Oh, it has been soooo long since I first watched FOtR, but yeah, I assume that I thought that Sauron could jump out of the Ring, or that he was somehow hiding in it...

When I first saw the movie, it was like two in morning and my senses were really dull so.....I thought that:
The Watcher of the Water was Kraken
The Eye of Sauron and Sauron were two different people
Gandalf died in Khazad-Dum
Boromir was a complete jerk

lol! It took me forever to learn Legolas's name, too. There was a time when I would call him the "Elf Archery Guy" and my friend who knew his name would always make fun of me.
Oh, and I used to call Aragorn "Aragon."

Hm, I never judged Boromir when I saw the movie, which is so odd, because that is such a common mistake. *shrugs* Apparently I was able to grasp the problem men have with the ring.

i have never read any of the LotR books, so i thought all of the movies were confusing.
I also thought that New Zealand was a strange place to have Middle Earth.
Maybe i just don't get it?
