Who do think was more of a hero in this book? Frodo or Aragorn? I would have to say Frodo since he did so much work to try and destroy the ring. He went through so much and he finally did what he set out to do. What do you think?

I say Sam. Without sam, the Ring could have never gotten to Mount Doom...

Yea, but it was Frodo that carried the ring to the Mountain. But Sam was an enormous aid to Frodo.

Of course, but if Sam wasn't there, could Frodo have gotten as far as the Mountain?

Exactly if Sam was not there, Frodo never resisted to the ring, Gollum and the Ringwraiths and all the way to Mordor. He was the hero

I can't vote...Aragorn was really brave to step up and be King, and lead the army to Mordor and fight so much, but Frodo was really brave making such a long journey to where he'd never been, with something so evil. I don't think either of them is braver than the other.

Frodo is the biggest hero IMO. He gave up his old life so he could save the free peoples of Middle Earth.

Gollum also played a large part. Without Gollum Frodo would never have been able to get to Mount Doom.

Meh, you could say that about so many people though. Without Wormtongue throwing the palantir at Gandalf Frodo would have never made it. Without the gate keeper at Bree letting the hobbits in they would have never made it

I have to agree with Haldir, for me Sam was the greatest hero in the whole trilogy. Without him Frodo wouldn't even have reached Imladris!

Gandalf is the biggest hero as he soon recognised the Ring for what it was and had he not, then all others would have had no thought for it and Sauron would have overtaken everything.

for me frodo wasn't that much of a hero, it was sam that kept him going, and in the end it wasn't even him who destroyed the ring, it was gollum (or at least it was in the movie, haven't gotten that far in the book), but still, frodo was very brave to undertake the journey, but he never would have made it without a lot of other people helping him.
so after all that, i voted for aragorn, cause he's very heroic and all.

"Frodo deserved all honour because he spent every drop of his power of will and body, and that was just sufficient to bring him to the destined point, and no further. Few others, possibly no others of his time, would have got so far. The Other Power then took over: the Writer of the Story (by which I do not mean myself), 'that one ever-present Person who is never absent and never named."
So as you can see. if it were not for Frodo no others could have made it to mt Doom. However it took the intervention of Eru to make Gollum fall into the fire and cause the destruction of the Ring. Frodo's will could only get him to mt Doom, not further.

You must understand that standing in the Cracks of Doom no-one would be able to resist the ring. They would all try and claim for it themselves. The only people possibly able to resist it would be the Valar

I think Frodo was all in all the greatest hero but I don't think he was a very honorable one. Let me explain.
Frodo did destroy the ring and fought through all the perils with amazing spirit but at the same time, come of the choices he made along the way were nothing to be proud of. He was a horrible judge of character bringing Gollum along for the journey, he hardly treated Sam like a friend most of the way, and became nothing to respect when he turned to trusting Gollum and pushed Sam away after all Sam had done for him.
But when he was standing in the Cracks of Mount Doom, I think that's when he realized the mistakes he'd made and he needed to feel at peace with himself and he gathered the courage to do what was right and what he knew he had to do. He is definately a hero, but he can't over shadow all the others that helped him become one.

Without Gollum he wouldn't have made it very far at all.
Also, that scene where Frodo tells Sam to go away is one of PJs worst crimes. Even if Frodo had have told Sam to leave, Sam would still have followed out of love for his master
