Okay, Just Before they ride out to the camp , Gimli says something like," I could Muster dwarves and fight" , or something like that, and then Legolas says something like " you need not worry about that,I fear war is already on their own lands".. I don't understand that bit. Would any one know what he means?

Perhaps it means that Moria was already overthrown.. and maybe Legolas knew a bit about the 'war' that was going on in the mines? I'm not sure he referres to that, but I could be plausible...

the convo goes....
Gimli: Horse-master. I wish I could muster a legion of Dwarves, fully armed and filthy.
Legolas: Your kinsmen may have no need to ride to war. I fear war already marches on their own lands.
just to help you out. but i think what it means is exactly what he says. war is already in the lands. their fighting there own battle.

I t is a reference to the evil left in Angmar. Because in LOTR it says that erebor was beseiged and that the dwarves and bardings were besieged and that Dain and Brand were killed at teh gates. This is , like elia said lol, they have war marching on them an dthey have no need to look for it. Namarie and I hope I have cleared that up!!!!!!

Well, ok. I was going to say all of what they said, but you two beat me to it. It's basically talking about that the dwraves fighting their own war and Legolas just knew about it. they took the words from my mouth.

I was a little disappointed, but not annoyed. It's good that someone was able to help out someone who had a question. Whether or not it was me who answered it.

Yes there is a definite connection between that and Moria.
What I believe it to mean, is that Gimli is saying he could Gather his fellow Dwarves together to fight, but Legolas tells him his feelings, saying that they have their own war to attend to, let alone our quest to destroy the ring.
It basically informs us that Legolas can sense Moria being in Danger, and as we find out, it was indeed.

Gimli says this in TTT and he had already visited Moria and knew its fate as a empty ex dwarven realm was sealed so i dont think he meant that m8.

Wasn't there war taking pace in Dale?? Morai is kind of Goblin infested so I think the Lonely Mountain is under siege and Dale but I'm not 100% sure

Im pretty sure that legolas was reffering to th e wars in Dale as the Dwarves didnt really concern themselves with the affairs of elves. I htink it refers as u said Fletcher Hawkmoth, to th ewars in dale and the lonley mountain .
