I liked it too!! I thought it was very dramatic; and Aragorn cutting his head off was a nice touch.

We just have to remember that the movie is the movie, and the book is the book. They're both very different, and yet special in their own ways. :)

Ha s anyone noticed that the mouth of Saurons' armour was really rusty and that his horse looked like it was about to collapse?

and they ruined that too, by making the Witch-king seem more powerful. Pfft. So. Incredibly. Upsetting.

Gandalf is the most powerful person in Middle-earth except for Sauron, for crying out loud!!!!!! Grrr.

YEAH!!!!!!!!!! totally agree with you there!

sorry.

i liked the mouth of sauron, but the fact that aragorn broke the parley is kinna upsetting. but i always thought of it as "the mouth of sauron" was like the mouth of sauron, so i thought he was suposed to be blind, but then i read the book and found it wrong, that it didn't mention he was blind. oh well. but i like that his mouth was all desgusting and his teeth all EW and stuff! it was cool!

Who's head does Aragorn cut off? Is it in the EE because ROTK EE is the only EE i don't have yet!

The mouth of Sauron...i'm confused...is that the eye?

If so I thought it was excellent.

The mouth of Sauron is on the theatrical and the extended version methinks, and the Mouth of Sauron is that bloke at the black gate who gives aragorn a load of stick and lacks a toothbrush.
Oh and lady of taniquetil, I can imagine the MOS as the before picture on a advert for colgate.
Hehe lol.
Namarie!

The MOS scene was only in the EE of RotK.
I gave a 'yes' vote on this poll but it comes with qualifications.
Was it how I imagined it when I read the books? No.
Was it a good portrayal for a movie? Yes.
Did PJ & Co screw it up with the beheading? Yes.

The portrayal of MOS was quite good in the fact it showed the decrepitness of the man that had become so. As pointed out by others here, his teethe were rancid, and his horse was a struggling beast. But it was quite un-Aragornlike to take a cheap shot and cut off his head during negotiations. Aragorn had way more honour than that. But I suppose if you need to simplify things for a movie......

I think Aragorn did what all the fans really wanted to do. I don't think it was a good decision, but it was satisfying to have him dead. Kinda like when Gandalf smacks Denethor in the face with his staff. Not sure that's what Gandalf would have done, but it made me feel better. :p

In the book, it is Gandalf - the WHITE - who cows the MoS and takes Frodo's Mithril cloak, Lórien cloak and Sam's sword from the Barrow-downs from him. But PJ had severe issues with the good side, and his perverse wish (need?) for some of the baddies to "have their day" or something to that effect - think of perhaps his second-most-heinous crime in the movies (after his mangling of Faramir), having Frodo send Sam back before the two reached Shelob's lair.
:explode:
Or Gandalf's confrontation with the Witch-king in Minas Tirith (W-k on a fell beast instead of at the gate on a horse): sorry, Gandalf the White would have slam-dunked the W-k all the way back to Minas Morgul - and Shadowfax would have kicked the fell beast around like a football. PJ just made too many horror (if at time vaguely tongue-in-cheek) movies before LoTR, and apparently hadn't gotten those sick little reflexes out of his system yet.
:hammer:
But again - he was probably still the best director (with more than just superficial knowledge of the books) we could have gotten at the time. That's why I would occasionally like to choke him - why didn't he just go that additional step at times? Do you have to pander to that bottom 5% of the audience, as the utterly uncreative moneybags see them (probably insulting all but the bottom 0.05% of the audience in the process)?

I knew it; I always go into a rant; at least it's in the movie forum this time.
