Finally managing to return to the ballroom, after missing quite a lot of the fun, Raven and Anakin headed directly out onto the dance floor, and swayed to the relatively slow song that was playing.

"At least we made it back for Christmas day." Anakin offered, as a way to start off a quiet conversation.

"True enough." was Raven's murmured response, as she glanced about the dance floor at all the other couples. Everyone seemed so happy, and the Christmas spirit was clearly alive and well.

"Break your neck indeed," scoffed FM. "Well, anyhow, even if there was such a danger, in a Christmas tree, you'd probably be saved by all these wires, er, lights."

They were getting fairly high up now, and FM pushed a branch aside and peaked out at the dancers.

"Ooooh. Altitude. Everyone looks rather smallish, eh?"

Fingers numb, Gwen removed her cloack and hung it back up on the hook. She rubbed her hands together, and then pressed them to her now rosy cheeks. She was eager for the warm company.

Altariel wandered in. She hadn't been at the ball in a day or two, as she had been spending time with her family.

Her heart seemed full to bursting. It was a very, very good Christmas, and the ball just seemed to complete it and make it too good to be true.

"Hey Altariel," Nurr called as she walked in. "Glad you could join the fun again!" She walked over to the huge Christmas tree. "Now FM, what in the world are you doing up there?" Mat walked over to see what she was looking at, then burst out laughing. "Is it nice up there?" he tried to politely ask without sniggering too much.

Nurr stifled a giggle as she watched Altariel begin to climb the tree as well. "These people are crazy," she remarked to Mat. "Agreed," he replied. "Would you care to dance?" "But of course," Nurr smiled as she accompanied him to the floor. They began to spin to the music, all the while keeping an eye on the two tree-climbers.

"Of course it's nice!" called FM down to Mat and Nurr. "Why it's simply one of the nicest things, you haven't any idea how nice it is! Much nicer'n dancing."

She was so enthusiastic about telling them this, that she lost balance, and tottered a bit.

"Come on up Altariel! Jolly fun up here." she rustled the branches a bit, and glanced downward, beginning to feel a bit dizzy.

Idril, wearing her pale turquoise-blue, Pride & Prejudice style ballgown, hand in hand with Remus, laughed as she looked up at the tree-climbers. "Well, I never heard of climbing a Christmas tree!" she said gaily. "I would join you..." she looked down at her dress "but I don't think I can."

Arwen and Viggo looked up and laughed to see the tree climbers tottering back and forth. "Be careful!!" Arwen called up to them, laughig and thinking that she may join them after a few more dances.
