Too true, too true, it's a pity people don't care for their hair. :(

Has anyone else noticed that the nice girls always tend to go for the idiots? It happens in my school a lot, even to the point where I've seen about 10 different girls with the same guy in one year.

Makes me sick to think that girls actually do that. Some of the nicest, most sensitive, and smart guys out there don't even get the chance to go out with the girl they like because she's busy falling head-over-heels for the idiot jock that can't do any more than smile and flex his muscles. Sick. :disgust:

I know exactly what you mean. I think that 95 % of the guys from my school are brainless idiots. It's strange how scarce guys are who appreaciate books and movies or like to have a conversation which has some contents. (that's around here anyway...:()

I have some peeps in my class (all hail public schooling!) who have heard of LotR and apparently they've seen at least a movie or two but I doubt they've read the book. Oh, but guess what? They're boys that refuse to talk to a nerd like me, plus we hate each other

Thats not fair! Why wouldn't someone not want to talk to someone just because they are nerds.

It's not cool. It all comes down to street credibilty with most of these people. They can't be seen talking to nerds because people might have a lower opinion of them. Sad isn't it. :(

[Geesh, some of my recent posts have been really cynical haven't they :P I guess I'm just in that mood :D]

Yeah...

The jocks at my school are trying so hard to be cool...

And don't get me wrong, they've definitely got the look and attitude down, but I've realized that all they're doing is trying to fit in, just like girls. And they're trying really hard.

In that way, girls and guys are exactly alike. We're both trying desperately to just fit in.

Yeah, sometimes it makes me sick to see a guy flexing his muscles or showing off in front of a girl, but usually it just makes me sad.

^Be comforted, then, by the fact that I don't do that, seeing though I have hardly any muscle. I am just really wondering but...did all of the sudden guys with long hair became a desire for girls? Because if it is, I hardly have a chance.

^ Uhm, I don't have a hair-length prefernce when it comes to guys.

^^Yeah. I usually get really sad when I hink about that stuff. The other day my sister mentioned how a teenage girl at our church was going to a cheerleading competition on Sunday, and my aunt interjected how athletic she thought those girls are. I was trying really, really hard not to laugh.

No offense to any cheerleaders out there, it's just that the ones at our school are total...um...well, they don't exactly fit the 'athlete' stereotype. They're sort of ditzy.

Making silly comments, spending all day talking about fashion, and flirting all the day long with boys. Sure, they run around the track, but so do band students. So do track students. Yet the cheerleaders rule the school, get the boyfriends, and act like they have no brain.

My aunt then suggested that 'there are ditzy girls in every sport, right?' Umm...no. I have many athletic friends, and if they were 'ditzy', then they wouldn't be an athlete. They would be drooling over clothes and boys, and would realize the best way to channel this sort of activity was to join cheerleading.

Once again - I mean no offense to cheerleaders or friends of cheerleaders. This is my own observation, and there are certainly exceptions.

I said this all to say: All the while, my parents, aunt, and sister probably thought I was bitter, jealous, and angry throught his whole rant. Not at all. I was just so sad, sad for the girls who are doing these things to themselves, flirting with the stupid guys with muscles, parading around in small clothes to better do so, and then calling it a sport to make themselves feel better. There's nothing wrong with the gymnastics, the training, the tricks behind cheerleading. It's the fact that it is way more than a sport. I'm sick of hearing they wear hardly-there skirts because it makes their job of flipping around easier. Yeah. It makes their real job easier - flirting. Why can gymnasts, doing around the same stuff as cheerleaders, wear modest leotards with pants, yet cheerleaders can't because it would be too hard? Huh.

And, in all honesty, I can't accept any activity as a 'sport' if it grades you upon how much make-up you wear.

Meh.. I don't really have a hair preference when it comes to guys either. However, I'm more inclined toward shorter-haired guys than longer-haired ones. :P

As for fitting in.. Makes me extremely sad to see some of the brightest people in my life change just so they can fit in. Being smart sometimes just isn't very "cool", so they act clueless just to get new friends. And then they change the way they act around you. Next thing you know they're ignoring you all together. I've had this exact experience so I know the feelings that come along with it well.

It's not worth it being friends with someone who you have to change everything about yourself for. You might end up changing who you hang out with, what you wear, how you wear your hair, or really changing your entire life just for that person. If they can't accept you for who you are they shouldn't be your friend at all.

Why must we have these stereotypes too? They only fuel the need to fit in. If we could all just accept eachother and listen to eachother I'm positive we'd find that we all have much in common.

I doubt that will happen in my life time or any future ones either. :(

Hairlength doesn't really matter to me. I'm definitely more of an inside-not-the-outside person.
