Oh I love short hair in guys Caunion! Don't grow it out! I personally am getting annoyed with the new short hair look myself. :annoyed:

To be completely honest, yes, I do like long hair. But that doesn't say much, considering I'm sorta crushing on this guy with short hair. :]
So don't worry about the whole long air thing. :-p

As for the chearleading thing, that was VERY well put RA.
As for the skirts, I do know a cheerleader, she's a very sweet girl who's into LotR and PotC, and the truth is, part of beign a cheerleader, is bieng sexy. The dancing is meant to be sexy. Hence, short skirts, it's not ALL just for flirting, in fact most of the cheerleaders in my school are quite ugly.
I do agree with most of what you said though. :-)

Ok..it was just an odd hypothesis I was having and wondering. But those with long hair seem to be...whatever.

Well, I consider myself a bright person and well, if you are bright and want to fit in, it's possibly you could academically help people that are cool yet clueless. It's not the best thing that has come to my mind but it does work to a certain degree. Because sometimes in their eyes, you will be nothing but a tool and like a tool they will throw it out if it becomes too rusty. I've given up trying to be "cool" and just been myself. It's quite nice, though you have people concerning your mental state.

As for what RA said, I don't have an opinion about cheerleaders. I leave judgments whether that is a good thing or a bad thing up to you. Granted, it is a bit, well, sad when I see cheerleaders throwing themselves into guys whose only interest in them is in, well let's just say, satisfaction. I'm actually friends with one cheerleader and she is quite nice actually, though her interests aren't parallel to mine. But for the most part, I agree with RA. As for brainless girls and guys, well, the school is such a lovely place to display it. At least mine is. For the most part, I just ignore them.

Welcome, Meldawen. ;)

Huh, it's not the cheerleaders who rule the school in my case. It's the poms. Ohhh yes, aren't they really cool? They wear sparkly red tops and tight black pants with jazz shoes, and tightly pulled back hair tied with a ribbon.

They, at least, have talent. They have incredible dance moves, but the only poms girl I know isn't that nice.

The cheerleaders are okay, but if you're in choir, especially jazz choir at our school, you're considered cool, too.
[And luckily, I fall under that category, so I guess I'm on the right track :P]

While we are on the topic of being a cheerleader, I suppose I shall say something concerning being one. I have had the opportunity to watch a cheerleader training to do cheerleading at a game and I have to say that there is much more than running that they do. I have a close friend who is a cheerleader and she has to do as much athletic things that an actual athlete has to do. She has to train and practice just as an athlete has to. As a matter of fact she broke her ankle in gym not too long ago. Many people tend to think that cheerleading does not come under the athletic grouping because of the short shirts and skirts but it does. Being a cheerleader does not mean spending all day chatting about fashion trends or flirting. It is the individual that turns cheerleading into that.

I suppose what I am saying is that the portrayal of cheerleading and cheerleaders that most seem to have is nothing more than a label. Yes, there are individuals that give cheerleading a bad name, but that is with any given thing.

I am done. :P

^See! There we go again labeling and stereotyping eachother! I know some girls who are into cheerleading and they are nothing like the typical cheerleaders you've all described. We just assume that they are.

As for dancing [and this is coming from a dancer herself], I know some girls who are in the same ballet classes as I who have the biggest egos ever. They're rude, back-stabbing, and they constantly throw themselves at guys. On the other hand I have dance friends that are the complete opposite. It just depends on the person.

Our cheerleaders have dropped each other on purpose. :confused2: Lots of corruption, I guess. And they don't even have a coach, they both quit during the beginning of the year. I know the Captain of the freshman squad and she's really sweet.

Anyone ever notice how most guys seem to like the brainless girls better than the smart ones?

That's true, though possibly because stupid girls are so much easier to manipulate but I do not fancy those type nor will the thought of manipulating women ever cross my mind. Yeah, I have a very strange honor code for women. Anyways, I think smart girls are bit too smart for the ogres and the trolls and the brutes that roam in my school. Wow, I think so highly of the male population in my school.

I think both girls and guys feel like the opposite gender goes for the brainless, flirtacious jock/prep. And I think Caunion made a good point about mindless girls. Because they're so easy to get, guys don't worry about treating them nicely, which leads to a bad relationship.
I think I prefer being hard to get, that way I'll know the guy reall likes me if he keeps "persuing" me. [In a mannerable, pleasing way of course lol]

It seems to me that girls try to manipulate guys more.

Yes, exactly, thanks Gwenny dear, that's just how I think it.
Though, to be honest, if I do like a guy, there's always a risk of me making it obvious. But I'll admit, I'm quite good at hiding it.
