Sorry if it seems either incomplete or too elaborated, but it was thought up very fast once I got the basic idea, so I still don't have all the fine details, though some might think I wrote too much anyways.

Plot:

The leaders of the four dimensions of Adaris are frightened. The weak humans, powerful Kor'daera, highly advanced Bekaran, and the fast but slow-witted Laude--the leaders of all of them are worried. Until recently, it was thought that there were only three dimensions on the world, connect to each other at specific points, named Archways. Then a fourth was discovered. One of the Kor'daera had been attempting a powerful spell when it went awry. In the fabric of the world, another Archway was created, but it was only one way. Behind it was the fourth dimension. A research team of Kor'daera, along with their Guardians, was sent through, planning to fully open the Archway when they were ready to return. After only a few days, however, those who waited on this side of the Archway saw two of the research team appear in sight through the Archway, which could be used almost as a window into that other dimension. The team members were bloodied and torn, barely able to stand, and they were terrified. As they desperately tried to get through the impassable Archway, they cast frightened glances over their shoulders as though they were being pursued. They were.

The Kor'daera watching the spectacle from this side of the Archway could only watch in horror as the pleas of those on the other side turned into screams as their pursuers caught up to them. Out of all four of the observers, only one managed to recount the experience to his peers--the other three found it so horrific that they blocked it from their mind. If all four them had, maybe all four of the dimensions would now be under the reign of the Gohl.

It was realized that the Archway needed to be closed, but there was a problem--the spell would only work if the person was at the Archway. The Gohl had found out that while they couldn't get their bodies through, every few hours, there was a time when the dimensions were close enough that if they abandoned their corporeal form, they could slip through the Archway, though only one at a time. On the other side, it was a simple matter for something with the Gohls' mental abilities to possess a person. The end result was that access to the Archway was now cut off by a legion of beings possessed by Gohl, all devoted to protecting the Archway until it could be fully opened, which would result in the fall of all the other dimensions, as they could not withstand the Gohl in their natural form. To open it fully, they needed to possess a powerful Kor'daera, which was the problem, because only a powerful Kor'daera would be able to close the Archway. If he failed, and was possessed, the dimensions would fall.

Since none of the peoples of the dimensions had standing armies (being at peace with each other), it was agreed that the best warriors and skilled--yet weak--Kor'daera should be assembled to protect the Kor'daera who would be chosen to close the Archway.

-----

Information about Adaris and the peoples on it:

So, to give you something of a background, the idea is that everything is on the same world, but in different dimensions. Of all the five races of Adaris, only the Humans and Kor'daera knew of each other before the Archways were opened.

The humans are fairly weak compared to the other races--they have meager magical abilities, they are less advanced than the Bekaran, and they are not as fast, strong, or alert as the Laude. However, they have an innate ability to enchant objects, to make them strong. As such, they tend to wear enchanted armor (plate/mail), along with shields and other protective gear, to maximize their efficiency in a fight. Unlike the Laude, the humans prefer to wield weapons such as axes, maces, short swords, and warhammers (they're not going to use dual swords, longswords, spears, or bows/arrows, unless they're hunting). They live on the first dimension with the Kor'daera

The Kor'daera are physically the frailest of the races. They are neither fast, nor strong, nor agile. A blow that would knock a human down might very well kill a Kor'daeran. What makes up for this is their natural affinity for magic of all sorts. Most have strengths in certain elements (like fire, water, etc), but they can all do basic spells using other elements, or ones using none. An odd thing about the Kor'daera is that they are incapable of wielding any physical thing deadlier than a dagger--the few times one has tried, he or she has died of violent convulsions. Because of their frailty and their inability to defend themselves from almost anything without magic, most have at least one member from another race acting as a Guardian for them. They live on the first dimension with the humans.

On the second dimension live the Bekaran--a highly advanced race of humanoids that are almost as much machine as they are organic. On birth every Bekaran is given a neural implant that allows them to communicate telepathically with all other Bekaran within range. They have a natural skill with mathematics and science, and are constantly advancing their technology. Many have had parts of their body replaced with technological "improvements" which contain many enhancements. With their enhanced speed, strength, and accuracy, the Bekaran are far faster than the humans and Kor'daera, and are the smartest of all the races. They are the only race who to possess firearms (on a level with us), and with their modifications, they are extremely deadly with them. For weapons, they'd be using various firearms (whether handguns, assault rifles, or whatever, is up to you). And since they're basically cyborgs, if you play one of these, you get to have a lot of fun with various goodies that are in their implants or whatever (like sensors, etc).

The last of the civilized races, living on the Third Dimension, is the Laude. They are commonly considered to be the slowest-witted, often thought to be dumb, but there are occasional ones that are more intelligent than the average human, even. They have hearing, sight, and sense of smell far greater than the other races, and likewise with their speed, strength, and reflexes. However, the Belkaran can sometimes equal them, with enough modifications. A Laude would have to be crippled or pinned to be unable to dodge an arrow fired from nearby (even using only their hearing to identify its proximity), and in the past some have been known to have reflexes fast enough to dodge a Belkaran bullet. However, they are, for the most part, slow witted, and none of them come close to comparing with the Belkaran in intellect. For the most part, they wear light outfits (no heavy armor), and use weapons like swords, spears, bows/arrows, and other things. If you play one of these, though, your character can't be a genius. Sorry, but they have to have some weakness....:)

---------

If you want to play a Kor'daeran, you need to have at least one Guardian--whether or not someone's willing to play one for you, it would be suicide for a Kor'daeran to go into a situation like this without a Guardian.

So there's the info that you should know. For the Gohl, I have no real idea of their lifestyle other than that it would be catastrophic for the other races.

Available spots (I'll be playing the lead Kor'daera):

Kor'daera (not including mine): 0
Human: 4
Belkaran: 4
Laude: 1

Please post your bios in the thread in The Barrow Downs, using this format:

Name:
Age: (Kor'daerans are the longest lived, reaching around 300 years old--the others are average-aged)(the age must be above 25)
Race:
Phys. Appearance:
Attire:
Weapons: (if you're a Kor'daeran, you can only use a dagger)
Strong element: (for Kor'daerans only. Options are Fire, Wind, Water (ice is included), and Earth)
Background:

Sorry for the long post--I couldn't think of how to compress it more.

Congratulations on being the first person to join, SG. :)

I like the Laude best myself, but I couldn't think of many ways to make them less-desirable to play except for having them being slow-witted.

lol, Yay! Thanks, Aerandir. ;) Well, I got my bio posted up, but I didn't give him a background, as I didn't really know what to type...

You can basically do whatever you want at this point...I haven't developed cultures for any of these races yet.

I'll play a Kor'daeran :) If anyone wants to be my Guardian, they can, but otherwise I'll play it myself.

w00t! I figure we could start tommorrow at latest.

:lost: I wondered how well the advanced-technology people would be liked on this forum....obviously most of us still prefer primitive weaponry :).

Sure, Elenya--you can join as a Laude.

Elegost, I sent you a PM about the baddies, in case you hadn't noticed yet.
